Stopped for night and the staff were great, didn't have food on the evening however the breakfast was really good. The beers were good and plenty of choice will definitely be stopping here again next would recommend to anyone. The room was very nice and I had a good nights sleep.

£54.95 a head not worth it at all. we've had far better at a Toby carvery Waited ages to be served starter & main. & Dessert was nothing special. & felt rushed to eat dessert as people waiting for our table while eating our dessert. Even though it was The Avenues fault that the meal was running late. We were...

Fourteen of us met at The Avenue for a Christmas meal - we were in the private dining room/breakfast room as we had a few individuals with hearing difficulties and wanted a quieter room away from the hustle and bustle of the main dining area. We all chose from the Christmas menu and we were not disappointed. Good sized portions...

And it was very good indeed. A warm mini-suite rather than a room, with a comfortable sofa and armchair, desk and chair, large-screen TV,...

I used to travel on the local bus past this pub as a kid (years ago!!) and it didn't look much then - so it was with some caution that we tried it out. Well I'd say it was worth a visit. The £9.95 two course special was well worth it (inc a glass of wine or 1/2 beer). The...

Stayed here for one night with my son before Durham University open day. Both rooms were good and had everything we needed. Ate in the restaurant that night - food was excellent although portions too big for us ! Breakfast next morning was also good. Good value overall and would stay there again. Only thing to be aware of is...
