The place is spotless, well located, and relaxing. My visit was very short, but enjoyed it thoroughly. Easy to get to the places of interest, restaurants -- which are just a few blocks away, but far enough to have a peaceful and quiet stay.

A moderate backpackers, with nice roof terrace and comfortable enough beds in dorms, but struggles to justify the price, which is significantly higher than comparable places elsewhere in Africa, Mozambique and indeed Ilha. Staff were friendly, but rumoured hot water and wifi didn't exist.

We arrived after a bad day to Ruby's and the minute we walked in we felt at home. Starting with the wonderful, clean and pleasant dorms. The kitchen is fully equipped, the showers are great. Gill and his wife, the owner, are so welcoming and gave us some great advise. This combined with the homey atmosphere made us feel really...

I have stayed at Ruby Nampula for 2 weeks each on two different occasions and I can say I had a good experience. It is quite affordable. The staff were quite nice and my room was always cleaned. I recommend the place

I stayed here twice for a night each time, once in the double room, once in a twin. Overall I wasn't overly impressed. The rooms were expensive for the money. The Internet was also quite unreliable and only available at very awkward times. The bathroom situation was quite awkward. Where they've made 3 partitioned toilet/shower cubicles, which are cramped and...

Few barking dogs next door woke me up at night but otherwise the staff were super friendly and accomodating and the other hostellers all seemed cool. Affordable and a nice little kitchen. This is also a cool retro city!!

Note: this review is for the Ruby Backpacker's on Ilha de Mocambique - I couldn't find a separate Trip Advisor listing. We stayed here for three nights towards the end of the quieter wet season. The hostel is ideally located in the centre of stone town and a short walk from all the main attractions and amenities. The hostel is...

Best backpackers place I've beeb in Mozambique. Clean rooms, clean bathrooms. Breakfast was fine for the price. The people atending where very kind, but dont have the best information about transport prices in the city. Situation is also good. Towards the chapa station it gets dangerous.

Good location in central Nampula. Nice place -- quiet, comfortable, clean, and affordable. Free breakfast, free WiFi in the evenings, nice outdoor seating area, lots of books, nice bedrooms and bathrooms.

“Dorm is your cheapest bet, but is not cheap.”
InternationalNomad77, 27 Jul 2014 | Read review
“Dorm rooms are good, but if you can spend a little more (esp. for a business traveler), I would not hesitate to book the twin or double room instead of one of the fancy hotels. Only thing is you have to make breakfast yourself”
Mozambeeqhuizen, 30 Jul 2013 | Read review
“If you're going for a dorm room- avoid the first room on the right. The outside lights are bright and there is a lot of noise from the street (especially early in the morning thanks to the makeshift recycling business across the street- and the dog next door.)”
