Rhino Safari Camp is a small somewhat isolated Safari lodge with a tremendous staff, spartan but appropriate quarters, and a wealth of knowledge and refinements. After nearly fifty rears of visits to the Botswana, Zimbabwe, and Zambian region, I and my wife found a lodge/camp site we'd love to call home! Rnino Safari, located an hour's boatride from Kariba town...

we were very kindly hosted by Rhino, whilst doing an anti poaching stint in the matusadona wilderness area. the camp is beautifully located overlooking the lake with superb open frontage , where eles came and browsed all day long. it was probably the largest area of concentrated game on the Zambezi floor (and i flew transects all over the shore...

Rhino Safari camp is an excellent place to spend a few days. The accommodation is tasteful and fun, with open sided huts and open air bathrooms. The setting is beautiful and peaceful. Elephants like the shore and the grazing and were plentiful. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful and there is a congenial atmosphere around the dinner table and...

Enjoyed, well worth the effort in getting there. Great spot with excellent views all around and also from the rooms. Only place in kariba we saw a few more animals than the rest of the place. Poaching is a real problem, so well done to the staff doing the best they can in their area with limited resources.

Yes that would have been a long drive from Masvingo and glad you feel that it was worth the effort. Poaching throughout Zim and the rest of Africa is ever increasing and there are a couple of entities that help speicifically with the Matusadona that could do with support of the public who visit this wonderful park : Flying for...

Rhino camp, on the shores of lake Kariba is a gem. Located in Matusadona National Park, this place offers a very comfortable way to connect with nature. Our guests each morning included dozens of elephants and too many birds to count. Our hostess, Jenny was fantastic, our guide Steve was top-notch and incredibly knowledgeable and the staff did an amazing...

In February we stayed for three nights at the Rhino Safari lodge. The transport to the camp and back to Andorra Harbour in Kariba was well organised by Rhinos own speed boat. The camp is beautifully located close to the lake shore. The entire camp is designed in African style bungalows. There are a total of 7 bungalows fitted with...

The word ecotourism is described as responsible travel to an exotic natural location intended to support conservation and observe wildlife in its natural habitat with very low impact upon the natural environment. I must take my hat off to Karl Wright and Jenny Nobes as this is exactly what Rhino Safari Camp (RSC) has achieved with little effort over the...

We loved our open room with a fantastic view, animals grazing outside and the romantic shower under the stars. As a vegetarian I was very well (specially) catered for, the service was excellent, the staff delightful - we felt very spoiled! Official Description (provided by the hotel)
An luxury rustic bush camp, situated within the Matusadona National Park on the shorelines of Lake Kariba. Guests are accommodated in seven twin bedded stilted wood and thatch chalets, each with its own en suite open air shower and flush toilet. Each chalet is on the edge of the jesse bush, facing the lake so they benefit from the cooling breeze from the water. It is not uncommon to have the wildlife walking in front and around the rooms, which allows for "close and personal" encounters with the game. Game viewing activities include drives, walks and tracking, and sunset cruises all in the company of a professional guide. For those guests who like to drop a line in the water, we also offer fishing for bream and the world renowned tiger fish, and Elephant Point is regarded as an excellent area to fish in. The Matusadona National Park is home to the Big Five, being lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard and the endangered black rhino as well as a host of smaller plains game and over 350 species of birds recorded in the area, making it a birders paradise. Rhino Safari Camp can be accessed by speed boat transfer from Kariba or from the nearby Kiplings/Rhokari and Bumi Hills airstrips. Meals are homestyle and freshly prepared at camp and meal times revolve around the game viewing needs of our guests. The guides and camp manager/owner host guests and offer them a relaxed homely environment in which to enjoy the peace and tranquility of the wilderness of the Matusadona National Park. We look forward to your visit....NO FENCES - PURE NATURE ... more   less
