Couple of nice chickens, honey tasted very honeyful. We wanted to see the sheeps but there was none. Room was a bit poor because a common terrace was behind our window but the bed was okay. The whole ranch was on a dry land, no beach no lake. We were forced to eat breakfast at the same time and in the same table with all other guests which was anxious and awkward situation without privacy and why this all happened: The hostess gave no options. The hostess said "come over there, sit down and take fresh made waffles!" But it was uncomfortable to sit there and pretend like this is f***ing awesome.
The host couple were super with fantastic breakfast. We had Aitta 2 (double) room, nice room with fresh air. Sauna was so Finnish as it could be, simple worth of trying. This place is worth every penny and wilk try it again.
Three friends on a road trip through Finland needed a place to stay overnight and also something to eat in the morning, and Tuukkalan Tila did not let us down! Nice room, comfy bed, big TV in the room (we watched the Olympics) and in the morning a fantastic breakfast in the beautiful veranda. The hosts were very nice and welcoming, and even their cat was friendly. :D They (not the cat) gave us some useful tips about routes and places in the area worth to visit. I highly recommend this place, if you simply need a nice and warm bed, a shower and a delicious breakfast.
Last summer in July I took a road-trip to Finland. After having visited Helsinki, I went toward east and found this B&B. Surrounded by green forests, lakes (Saimaa, Kajtajärvi, etc.) and nature, Tuukkalan Tila is located in the small village of Ristiina, close to the city of Mikkeli. The room I've stayed in is in a typical building next to the owners' house and it was really nice, well furnished and decorated, with free wifi, tv and a really comfortable bed. As extra payment, you can get the possibility to use the B&B's typical finnish sauna, which is an experience I highly recommend! The breakfast is traditional and rich: porridge, muesli, jam from the owners' farm, milk, coffee, homemade bread, etc. etc. and you can agree the time with the owners. As a solo-traveller I liked the location very much because it's in the countryside and you are in the pure nature in 5 minutes driving, but still it's close to the village if you want to buy groceries or go to eat some typical food. I would recommend this B&B to almost everybody: families, solo-travelers, couples and small groups, and to who wants a good quality-price relation. The yard is quite big, there's a pavillon with a grill ready to use, a big garden with an elastic trampoline and a porch swing, a wooden table with benches to sit on and enjoy the sun. Furthermore, the family has a farm with sheeps, lambs, chicken and two lovely cats! The owners are kind and easy-going, I had good talks with them and got also useful suggestions about what to visit around there, for example the rock buildings, Saimaa Lake (the biggest in Finland), the Puumala Road and so on. It doesn't happen so often to find owners like this, who are eager to get along with you as a person, instead of as a wallet! :) I liked the place and the experience so much that this year I suggested it to my friends and we decided to go there, but we rented a cottage at Kaidan Kiho instead of a room at the B&B (the family takes care about them both) and it was wonderful! I warmly recommend you to go and meet the Valkonen family, get to know more about Finland and finnish, and let the place they live surprise and amaze you! :)…
