If you like old school this is for you.We had no idea what to expect but was pleasantly surprised , great service from staff very polite. I thoroughly enjoyed having a chat to the owner(Bill) at the bar, and the curry was the best I have ever had. forgot to tip the staff the next morning as I was in...

Thank you Bill and Gail for the warm hospitality and awesome stay we had with you. We always recommend the Green Lantern to all travelling through the area and even those that aren't. Close to many Drakensburg attractions, not far from Golden Gate and Clarens, it is definitely a trip we will always remember.

On our way to Durban we decided to make a stopover and what a pleasant surprise. Beautiful old hotel with so much character. The staff are friendly and welcoming and the room clean and comfortable, Very tasteful dinner and breakfast. The highlight was the donkey (Bojangles.) in the bar. Recommended and will visit again.

We stayed with a group of friends. The pub is as popular as ever and a lot of the reputation of this hotel is based around this. The garden rooms near the highway remain impossibly noisy throughout the night with trucks on eshaust brakes beginning their decent of Van Reenens metre from the rooms. The oxtail for which the pub...

I'm sorry your stay was not to your satisfaction. Confusion sometimes does arise with group bookings where it becomes confused as to who is paying for what- meals and drinks, and where deposits have to be allocated etc. We do try to manage the situation but it sometimes becomes complicated. Some people do find the garden rooms noisy, but on...

Didn't get to stay there, merely enjoyed a lovely meal in their beautiful gardens. Well worth taking 2 mins off the beaten track for a pit stop. Highly recommend the oxtail or curry. A real piece of South African history sight as well.

We stayed over at the Green lantern inn on the way to the coast. A nice, old Inn with a old school silent movie cinema and full bar. Very warm and friendly. The rooms are minimalist and clean. The outside dining area overlooks a beautiful, well maintained garden.

What a lovely stop we had on our way back from the coast. From the street, Green Lantern Inn doesn't look like much, but what a lovely surprise once you walk in! They have loads of space, a beautiful garden with a nice children's play area. The oxtail is delicious! Definitely worth a visit. The food is good value for...

When we stopped outside the Green Lantern, we were a taddy taken back and thought that it looked questionable. However once we stepped inside, what a pleasant surprise - we stepped into another world. It is absolutely lovely, quaint, spotlessly clean and wonderful hospitality from everyone. Lovely atmosphere. Ample place to sit and relax in the beautifully kept garden. A...

On our way back from Ballito to Johannesburg we decided to meander a bit and stay over one night. We chose the Green Lantern Inn and spent a lovely afternoon and evening there. We watched silent movies in the lounge, played table tennis, saw the donkey in the bar and enjoyed a nice dinner. The room was lovely - so...
