Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I didn't stay here, but rather attended an event. The facilities are excellent and the staff are very helpful. One nice touch that other restaurants should copy was that in the bar, when we ordered food, there was a line of ice-filled pint glasses and jugs of water so you could get as much water as you liked with your food - it always annoys me that water appears to be in such short supply in Irish restaurants.

The hotel is situated at the outskirts of Mitchelstown only 10 min walk to town centre. Food is quite good and nice choice available whilst being reasonable too. Room are standard but maintained well by staff as are very clean. Eileen on reception is a credit to the establishment as too are the restaurant staff. Well worth a stay.

We had the pleasure of staying at the Firgrove Hotel on the weekend of 18th February for an overnight stay to attend the Fureys concert there. From start to finish the customer service was excellent, the staff are so friendly and attentive. The room was spotless, with fresh crisp linen and the bathroom was so clean. The food was delicious with so much choice and very reasonable. I would not hesitate to stay at the Firgrove again and we would highly recommend it. Thank you to all the staff for making our stay so comfortable and enjoyable

Visited for food. Hubby got soup which was completely bland. I got fish and chips - it was absolutely awful. €15 for greasy overcooked batter with very little fish inside and a small handful of chips. Looked at the beef which looked as dry as a boot. Very disappointed!!

I was so disappointed with this hotel. We stopped in with the kids to go toilet and get something to eat on a long journey. The food was disgraceful. I paid €60 for 2 chicken dinners and 2 kids meals. The chicken was not fully cooked. We asked for chips with the chicken and we were handed plates with the chicken to take to our table and told chips would follow. We were waiting a while. Usually in this case any chef would keep the chicken in the heat until chips were ready and then bring the food altogether. Then when the kids burger came it was chicken not beef that we had asked for. When the beef burger came out it was very poor quality and so tough. Definitely will never visit again. When we went toilet the taps in the ladies one had a sign on saying don't use but the other taps drowned us when we went to turn them on. There was a pool of water on the ground which would be a hazard to any elderly or children.

Went to Firgrove for a bite on Thursday evening 17 Nov. Had cod n chips, partner had chicken korma. We really enjoyed the fish du jour and curry along with the trifle and cheesecake for dessert. Cappuccinos were excellent also. So glad we went there for food that evening. Fair play to the chef and server, excellent service and such a comfortable eating experience. Will be back thanks. m+m

Great place for Sunday carvery.

Fantastic carvery, great beef & lamb, with huge portions. Whilst being a very busy spot, the team provide fast & friendly service, and is very reasonably priced. Cheesecake is lovely as well!

Charming little quiet hotel. Lovely comfortable beds. Rooms very clean. All Staff were very friendly and helpful. Really enjoyed the breakfast which set us up for day nicely. Bar/restaurant looked very inviting but unfortunately we couldn’t investigate due to other commitments. Will have to return.
