Having had experienced a really good coffee estate of a friend in the past, we had high expectations from the Balur estate. And it exceeded all of them. We picked the cardamom rooms, which are basically two rooms separated by a living/dining area, and another room facing the lawn. We got the two rooms and dining area all to ourselves...

Linger at Balur estate was chosen by us based on the reviews on this website. After the initial exchange of e mails and the electronic payment there was silence. There was no confirmatory email stating the payment with specified amount had been received by the reservations team and I had to pester them to get the receipt which I did...

This place is un-frikkin-believable. You wouldn't believe me if I told you this place could still take you back in time to 1835 when it first opened as a coffee plantation. The cottages and rooms are so well maintained and have that old-world charm with modern amenities. I had stayed the previous night at the Taj in Chikmagalur and entering...

This is our second trip within a year but I have fallen in love with this place. I have started feeling that there is nothing better then this place to relax, feel yourself. A beautiful estate - surrounded by greenery that our eyes couldn't get enough of. Waking up to the call of peacocks is a luxury for city-dwellers like me. We thoroughly enjoyed the views and lush greenery everywhere. Felt tranquilized in the serene environs of the place. The room given to us was cozy, reminded us of the colonial era. Interiors...

This estate is beautiful, calm, antique and very big. Surrounded by mesmerizing scenery. The estate rooms are all beautiful, spacious. Hospitality of the people is too good. most important the authentic homely malnad food.(Mouth watering especially neer dosa, thalipettu and akki rotti ). You can just go and walk around coffee plantations which is really nice. You will also have bonfire. As the...

Why I just loved the place - 1. Sugama bus from Bangalore (to Hornadu), just drops you at the gates of the Balur estate. 2. An unbeatably appealing collection of antiques and interiors at the home stay, as if its some medieval era. 3. Extremely tasty Malnad food. They even neatly packed us lunch for our way back home. Every...

This place was every bit just as advertised - calm, serene, luxurious, lush green - perfect for a do-nothing getaway. The best part for us was the food and the cottage. Food was prepared especially for us based on our likes and dislikes. The caretakers went out of their way on several occasions to serve us very good local food....
