We needed a time - out weekend and were definitely not disappointed with our choice ! There was a very warm welcome, we were able to choose between two rooms - had a ground room bedroom as we were traveling with our dog. The room was large enough, the bathroom had everything we needed, the bed was warm and very...

In the wake of our son's wedding we needed to get a car load of wedding presents to him and his wife, they living and working in Zurich We agreed to meet broadly half way and for accommodation we uncovered Chateau d'Alteville. This is a wonderful old home full of history in a delightful area of rural France. We were...

FIRST LOOK When you enter the garden, and you first see the appartment in real life... It's incredible. HOUSE ITSELF As some people wrote in the reviews, the "house" looks old from the outside. Come on, it's a 500 years old building! How is it supposed to look? On the other hand, it gives a really good feeling, when you...

We stayed as part of three couples travelling from Italy back to England. On arrival we were met by a lovely young lady who showed us our rooms and explained that David, the owner would be arriving shortly. The bedrooms were all very clean and nicely furnished although in each of the rooms the three couples occupied, the beds were...

Dear Wendy, Let me answer to you, point by point : - The furniture in every room, beds included is antique and traditionnal. In the rooms you ordered (77 €), the size of the bed is 140 cm, the traditionnal french size for a normal double bed (larger beds are called queen or king size beds). On request, we propose for...

Probably the most affordable chateau stay in France, I knew we had to book a stay to satisfy my Francophile wife. Based on the reviews, we saw this stay as a great opportunity and it was. It was really out of the way for our itinerary, which did not include outdoor activities in the region but...... As advertised, it is...

After a long day's travelling one wants nothing more than a warm welcome and a comfortable room and both we received. Over aperitif we met David our host and learned much of the region's history and current issues in conversation over dinner. Being reminded that he is also the Maire of the massive hamlet of Tarquimpol conversation also ranged over...

We stayed at Chateau D'Alteville en route to Switzerland. The Chateau is a beautiful place with a long and interesting history. David the owner is a great host and a very good cook. The rooms are very pleasant and the dinner was great. It is a 'table d'haute' with all guests sitting round the same table, but when we were...

We selected this accomodation from Trip Adviser as we were looking for a stopover between Zurich and Reims and this was a great choice. Rooms are comfortable and functional with high ceilings typical of an old manor house but surprisingly small. We had a queen size bed which was a little short for my 5ft 11 inch frame and the...

My husband and I arrived at this beautiful chateau after a long and tiring journey. We were greeted by David, our most charming host who provided us with a refreshing drink and showed us around his lovely historic family home, authentically furnished. We then went for a stroll around the lovely, peaceful grounds. We had two memorable evenings dining with...

“Our room was very quiet on the northeast side, second floor (opposite end of building from kitchen & dining room)! with access to a private shower, bath, and w/c. During summer's warm weather, suggest closing windows before it gets dark and the room light is on, and opening them again once the lights are out. We encountered no mosquitoes, though!”
