I stopped at this hotel by chance and was pleasantly surprised. It is really good value and the staff could not have been more welcoming and helpful. It doesn't have a restaurant but does to an adequate breakfast.
For rural France this has got to be one of the best. It is a newly renovated hotel with very stylish decor. The room was huge and so nice for a change and the beds big and comfortable and we had a great nights sleep. Even the bathroom was a decent size with plenty of hot water. Breakfast was excellent, probably the best in France in three weeks, with eggs, cereal, fruit and the usual continental fare. Wifi was fast and free. Run by a young couple who have done the renovations themselves and the love shows.
Arrived by MTB for one night on the road to Compostella . Desk boy was very nice and helpful. Room was remodeled clean and large. Location is right at center. No negatives at all. I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Vauvert. Breakfast is small and typical french...
The Hotel Le Lys d'Or provided me refuge and comfort when I needed it. Walking the Arles Way pilgrim trail I had succumbed to blisters as a result of too much road walking. On arrival in Vauvert I had tried the pilgrim accommodation at Le Relais de la Gare and walked out as it was basically a filthy rip off and retreated to the Lys d'Or. Here I was welcomed and shown to a very comfortable room but when the manager learned that I wanted a WiFi connection he moved me to another room where the signal is stronger. This hotel is clean and comfortable, it has a large private car park for those who need it and the breakfast (continental) is of generous quantity and very good quality. That just about sums it up. Nothing spectacular but what it does it does well.
We stayed here 3 nights while visiting friends who had a small vacation property nearby (too small for us unfortunately!). Basically, it was fine. Small but clean, strange decor in the hall (huge elephant head relief plaque) but you don't have to see it often, a very simple but adequate breakfast.
