Stayed one night dinner bed and breakfast for 6 (Covid max) of us to celebrate wife’s 60th and our 38th wedding anniversary. From booking all the way through our stay and to our departure we received fabulous service. Highly recommend a visit. Lovely traditional coaching inn but with modern facilities all sympathetic to the history of the building and the town.
We’ve just spent a most enjoyable stay at the Falcon. We stayed in the Apple Suite which is a self contained cottage in the beautiful gardens with its own private outside space. The suite has excellent facilities and, should you wish to ask for anything, it was willingly supplied. From the friendly welcome front of house to the helpful and efficient staff throughout the hotel, we received every attention during our stay. The food was faultless and nothing was too much trouble. The Falcon exudes old-fashioned service and class. Their management of the Covid situation was impressive, sanitising thorough and distancing rigidly observed. We live quite locally and had to vacate our property during necessary electrical work. We had no hesitation in selecting the Falcon as a place to stay and have already reserved places for our Golden Wedding in 2025. We also have no hesitation in recommending this attractive old coaching inn which combines old world charm with all the modern amenities a discerning guest might require.…
We stayed at the Falcon on a Friday night, breaking up a journey from Northumberland to Hampshire. We also had dinner on the Friday night, joined by a couple of friends who live locally. Our room was really comfortable, clean and well appointed. Both dinner and breakfast on Saturday morning were excellent, both from the point of view of food and service. All of the staff were really friendly and helpful, and at check-in the lady on reception showed us up to our room, something which doesn't often seem to happen these days. The hotel's public areas - especially the main lounge and the sunny terrace at the back - have a feeling of calm and tranquility about them. Lastly, the hotel has all the necessary covid secure protocols in place, and while effective these do not feel at all intrusive. On this last point, one recent negative review mentioned sticky tables. We noticed this too, and staff explained that this is an unfortunate effect of the sanitiser used to clean tables after each guest has used them. So it is not the hotel's fault, and certainly nothing to do with a lack of cleanliness!…
Lovely hotel in the middle of this characterful town. Very efficient staff giving great service. Nice rooms with comfortable beds. Good breakfast with plenty of choice. Impressive Covid systems in place to make their customers feel safe.
This was the last place we had Sunday lunch before lockdown and the first place we have been since. So glad we did! The food was superb with the roast beef absolutely wonderful. But what makes this place special is the atmosphere which is always relaxed almost laid back. The service too is service with the girls today being friendly and efficient. We actually felt they valued us as customers. We have been a few times before but today was exceptional!
