We booked this pub for Sunday lunch and were extremely disappointed by the quality of the food and the attitude of the chef. The roast beef was served extremely rare, with no warning given on the menu or upon ordering, it was also very tough. We were reluctant to complain as are well aware that some people would be happy...

Having driven past the Pub on our numerous days out in Dorset, and after many years, we finally stopped and gave it a go . Fabulous sums it all up and the young lady behind the bar and waiting on tables was an absolute delight and should be an object lesson to others in how charm and professionalism can be...

Spent one night at the Brace of Pheasants and had a very good stay. The room and bathroom were excellent and we had a peaceful night in a comfortable bed. Had dinner in the pub and very pleased with our meals. I had the pheasant which was very popular so reserve early if you like pheasant. My husband chose supreme...

We booked this pub for lunch the week before Christmas and the location is lovely and the pub is quaint. The food was okay basic pub fayre nothing to write home about. Would visit again if passing but not sure it's worth a drive out or a diversion. There are probably better places in the area

Following a morning walk with our dog we were looking for a bite to eat. Neither my wife nor I had visited here for some years - and it appears it has been our loss! Our dog was welcome as long as he was well behaved and had clean feet (it looked like the pub had recently had a new...

Situated in a small hamlet up a long single-track road this pub is not all that easy to find but it is worth the journal, Run by a very pleasant family this pub offers good rooms (we were in one of the "new" rooms out the back which was very comfortable) and good food. However, the pub appears to rely...

Lunchtime was busy in this pleasant and tradtional village pub . Nevertheless the waiting time to be served our chosen meals was unacceptable , especially as the food was very poor when it finally arrived.. Fresh battered fish of the day was spoiled by floury tasting batter and the home made chips were a mixture of burnt or not cooked...

We booked to stay over the New Year and had rooms in the annexe. Our room was spacious, warm and cosy and the bed very comfortable. Dinner was very good ( excellent rack of lamb) and the service was friendly and attentive. All the staff were welcoming and helpful. Breakfast was very good too.

The Brace of Pheasants is, quite simply, superb. The pub is everything you imagine an English country hostelry to be. However, that is only the start of the story as the food is superb and then you can add to that top notch B&B accommodation. Moreover, the location is amazing - beautiful hills and valleys, several choices of circular walks...

We booked last minute minute so that we could visit Monkey World (a 25min journey). The room in the annex was super. The bed was incredibly comfortable, the bath enormous, and all very warm. The pub served local real ale and the food was good hearty local fair with an emphasis on game. Good value and quality. Breakfast was equally...
