We chose Bowes House because it looked such a pretty B & B. Very friendly welcome from the owner and it was so relaxed it was like visiting family. Tea and lemon tart was very welcome on arrival. We had the superior room with en suite and very large comfy bed ! The gardens were beautiful and everywhere very peaceful....

3 of us stayed on Saturday night midway through a weekend cycling trip through Devon, Dorset and Somerset. It was perfect for our needs. Lisa was very welcoming offering tea and crumpets on arrival. Showers were hot, local pub a short walk away with tasty, filling food, comfortable beds, great cooked breakfast plus home made marmalade and rhubarb, perfect quiet...

Our plans had to change for New Year due to family illness so this was a last minute booking for us to make the most of some time off work. We were made to feel really welcome by Lisa & Kelham and they were both very helpful regarding the local area and trusting with their lovely family home. Bedrooms were...

My Fiance and I called last minute to book this little B&B not knowing what to expect. We were beyond surprised to find a lovely family home opened up to guests. Our hostess, even with such little warning, made us feel warm and welcome. The Admiral Hood, just around the corner, offers a great meal and friendly service. Absolutely would...

The view over the valley is incredible and the house is set in a wonderfully peaceful spot with gorgeous little English villages around. The owners lit a fire for me to read my book by and brought me a pot of steaming tea. In the morning I took a walk through the fields - fresh with mud - to the...

Bowes House gives you everything you need from a Bed & Breakfast. It was very clean and comfortable. A superb breakfast with plenty of choice was served. It is located in a small village and we completed a couple of local walks, the surrounding area is crossed with many footpaths, it would make a great base for a walking holiday.

We reserved a room to take a weekend break from busy city life. The owner suggested to cancel our reservation as we didn't have a car, she seemed bothered about having us around the house and mentioned they don't want guests to be in the house or the garden from morning to late afternoon. There seems to be some public...

I am sorry that you felt that my heartfelt advice regarding your recent planned trip to Bowes HOuse on a rainy weekend was misplaced. As with all B and B's, guests do not expect to be in the house all day. Without a car it is difficult to travel from this house and given the weather, hearty walkers would have...

We stayed as an extended famil group of 2 parents with 3 adult children 2 of which are married and with one pair of grandchildren so 9 in total. The house and gardens were an ideal size for our long weekend. A great base for exploring the Jurassic coast and long country walks. The beds were comfortable and the house...

Stayed just one night at this beautifully situated B and B and was made to feel really welcome (tea and chocolate cake a lovely touch). Lisa a helpful guide to the countryside around and prepared a breakfast that deserves a review of its own. Homemade yogurt outstanding!
