The Dundas Arms couldn't enjoy a better spot by the canal (and train-spotters have the added bonus of the railway and level crossing, just across the water!), and its lovely, leafy garden makes a perfect spot from which to appreciate the setting. We were very happy with our stream-side guest room; found the young staff friendly and attentive; the atmosphere...

This was an overnight stop whilst cycling the Kennet and Avon Path ( which is every good.), therefore the location alongside the canal was excellent. I found the pub with rooms a little shabby. The room was very well proportioned and had a small terrace overlooking the canal, so far so good. However the shower was temperamental, the shower hose...

My wife and our toddler son stayed here on a Saturday night having booked one of the rooms in the main house. Room itself was lovely and spacious with a comfy bed. They put up a cot for our son. There was a light outside the window which seemed to be on through the night which meant the room was...

We arrived at this hotel to a very shabby hallway and bad lighting. The staircase left a lot to be desired and needs a good clean. It was extremely cold the day we arrived and the young lady who checked us in turned on the heating and the room then was lovely and warm. The room itself, well there was...

James and his staff went above and beyond, making my brothers 30s go off without a hitch. We stayed for 3 nights in a riverside room with our 2 small boys. Our room was clean and big enough for a travel cot and toddler ready bed still leaving us with ample space. Staff were super helpful when it came to...

The Dundas is in an idyllic position, with a lovely garden and water flowing by from both the river and the canal. It's also next to the station (the noise is not a problem) so it is brilliant if you don't want to use a car. There is plenty of parking. Inside is the perfect English inn: magnificent log fire...

We stayed here for one night on the way to the West Country: it's a cosy country inn, sandwiched between the river and canal. Our comfortable room was at the back with its own little terrace onto the river. We had drinks in front of the log fire before a good dinner (roast lamb and roast belly pork were both...

Sadly, we have to agree with the majority of the recent reviews (perhaps I should have looked at these before booking). We stayed a Saturday night, arriving late afternoon. We stayed in one of the waterside rooms, which probably wasn't necessary given it was winter (it would be nice in summer). The room was small, but the bed very comfortable....

If this is a jewel in the crown of the Epicurean Collection who own it, it's a fake. The staff, some of whom speak a little English, have little to no training and thus the establishment is void of soul, spirit, passion and personality. It strives for shabby chic, mastering the former and totally missing the latter. Breakfast would fit...

My wife and I and our two dogs stayed at the Dundas Arms on New Years Eve in one of the ground floor Riverside rooms with a patio area by the river. These are recommended for guests staying with dogs. The double rooms are a nice size, as is the bathroom with a shower over the bath. Considering the price...
