Although we stopped by to eat and relax at this wonderful location, it was a great pleasure to meet Valerie the owner of THE PICKLED ONION. We visited the bungalows for our next stay over. Valerie has placed extraordinary detail to each bungalow, impeccably clean and fresh. A definite stopover for anyone planning a visit the Maya sites on the...

One of the best guacamole we had so far on our trip together with the chimichangsa (also very good) and avocado soup. The service was friendly and fast. Overall, a great, remote and original gem in Santa Elena.

What a charming place to stay! Quite a different experience from town hotels as it consists of individual well equipped cabins in a garden setting with a lovely refreshing pool. The restaurant is also excellent. Close to Uxmal archaeological site and the Cocoa museum.

We loved the place. The hotel is located in the middle of the jungle but it's safe. We didn't see a single insect in the room. We stayed in a room that looks exactly like the Mayan houses with palm leaves top. It's so beautiful and confortable. The food is great. The owner is sympathetic. It's has the perfect location...

Thank you for your lovely comments . We really appreciate your time . The pool is closed at 10 in the evening and this is when we turn off the lights . Previously we stayed open longer but a lot of guests where disturbed by the noise of other guests around the pool . The voices outside really echo and...

I would have never dreamed to find such a great place to stay in such a remote area. Located in beautiful garden, the canadian Landlady has put up nicely decorated maya style huts. They are spacious, clean and well taken care off. There is a small pool and a little restaurant, where they serve mexican style food and breathtaking magheritas....

We went to the Pickled Onion after an exhausting day and what a good surprise: the food is amazing and typical, the breakfast is gorgeous the setting is romantic - the plus is the host who knows how to make her guest so comfortable. Very good energy there. We highly recommend !
