5 of us drove from Ottawa for lunch and we all enjoyed our meals in the ice cream shop. We had wonderful soup and sandwiches, made with real chicken and beef, not luncheon meat. After lunch we wandered the property enjoying the lovely gardens. An employee, I believe his name was Pat, was full of interesting information about the history...

6 of us ladies arrived after 6 hours of biking. The welcome was amazing. The cabins - Oak 1 & 2 were beautiful - down to earth, comfortable, clean and the bathrooms were nicely upgraded. Although the main dining room is not yet open ( and I cannot wait to see it when it is), we had a wonderful buffet...

I would give this place 10 out of 5, the staff here are second to none and more than go out of their way to accommodate. My daughter held her wedding here and although the weather did not totally co-operate, the staff certainly did. They went far out of their way to make it a most memorable event, even to...

Stopped by on our cycling tour of the Cataraqui Trail. While their dining room is shut down for renovations my wife and I had their excellent Talian sandwiches and finished with their ice cream from the Ice Cream Parlour. I look forward to the reopening of the Dining Room.

We spent the night at the Opinicon Inn's marina dock. What a truly refreshing experience to hear the story of how this landmark resort is being restored to all it's glory by a young couple from Ottawa. Their vision is to provide a family resort along the heart of the Rideau Canal at Caffey's Lock where boaters and resort goers...

The Opinicon is a true experience for the whole family. My family and I had a blast eating tons of ice cream and terrific meals (beyond what I would have expected), going canoeing (free if you are a guest), walking around the beautiful grounds, and playing in the awesome kids discovery area. Our cabin was very tastefully renovated and had...

We stopped by for an ice cream on our way home from Chaffey's Locks. A truly beautiful property. Kudos to the reno planners and the fantastic staff. The ice cream shop is immaculate and nostalgic. Our son especially enjoyed the nature-scape playground - it's original and well planned with thoughtful touches like places for grown ups to sit! The cottages...

My granddaughter, her mother and I had a very relaxing stay at the Opinicon. The best part was the Staff. ALL seemed to bend over backwards to make sure we had all our needs met. Each one with 'STAFF' on their shirt, smiled, greeted and communicated with us. Two of us had mobility difficulties. We had the services of a...

The Opinicon was a grand and venerated fishing lodge in her prime. She fell into disrepair and neglect. New owners have stepped up and done a magnificent job renovating to modern standards while keeping the old charm of the place. Out with the shabby paint and mildew, in with the king size beds and fresh sheets. Out with the cluttered...

The Chaffeys Locks hamlet is straight out of a 1890s film, book or painting. Drive slow. Drive slower. Stop and get out and breath in the history, the trees. Lake looks weedy. Resort is going through huge reno so just drove in and turnd around in late June 2016.

Thanks for coming to Chaffey's! All our cottages are open, as well as our famous ice cream parlour :). The main lodge will be coming online in phases throughout the summer. You missed the free live music down at our docks yesterday! Luther Wright and the Wrongs were magnificent.
