As my title suggests the hotel and location was great. On arrival the staff were friendly and helpful and as we had arrived late in the evening they had put some food in the room for us along with a cake for our anniversary. Nice...More

We went half board and the hotel offered a drinks package for €30 each and a/I for €44. Min 3 days in a row. We're not big drinkers either, the most we spent on a few cocktails and coffee in one day was €53 for both of us, so we didn't think it was worth it. We got one voucher for an evening at the Greek restaurant instead of the buffet restaurant which was lovely. We found that the choice of food at the buffet was extensive that we were so full that we just bought a snack or 2 starters at a taverna when we were out. You can swap an evening dinner for a lunch instead, but we we so full after breakfast that we never did this. Bus goes to Chania to the East loads of places as to eat, bus to the west 3.6 km is a bar (blue sign) red wine and beer €2.50 which was nice, other bars and tavernas and shops along that strip. You can also do B&B at the hotel and then buy dinners at €34 I think.

Just came back on Friday and it was sunny and 22 degrees. Don't worry, often the weather forecast is for the mountains, the coast is better. It does get breezy and the sea a bit choppy, but we sunbathed most days, mornings normally better. Hire a car and drive to Elafonisi 1.5 hrs (picturesque zag road through mountains) or Gramvousa about 40 mins, both on west coast so more sheltered and lovely beaches, weather sometimes different there. But it will be half term and there will be kids away from the lovely adult only oasis of the hotel!
It was forecast rain one day we were there and it was hardly a drizzle, I didn't even put my hood up. If it does rain there's still plenty to do, Chania and Rhydymnon have museums and shops, big fort at Rhydymnon. The hotel has a gym, indoor pool, spa and other activities also. You'll have a lovely time.

Under the All-In arrangement most drinks are free, including cocktails at the beach bar. But branded spirits are charged, as are the better wines. The local wines are OK (the white more so than the red and rosé), and the local Cava a nice free substitute for champagne.
