Me and my partner stayed for 1 night this week. Booked last minute and it was a very pleasant stay. We chose to eat at the pub for dinner which was very good value and proper traditional pub food done well. It was a dark and wintery night but the newly opened fire in the snug kept us toasty! We... Took a walk through Chardstock in search of a dog friendly pub and we were delighted to see such a beautifully presented, traditional pub opening at 6pm. Having checked that the George was dog friendly and would be able to accomodate us for dinner at 7.30 we strolled on down. The staff were very welcoming, warm atmosphere and plenty of... More

We checked this pub out earlier in the year but didn't visit until now. There's no website available yet so no chance of checking out the menu before you arrive. Pub is old and quirky and more like a Devon long house. Ordered the king prawns for starters and arrived very hot. Hubby had crostini which he said was good.... More

This is just pub grub. Service was rather slow. We reserved a table and waited about 45 minutes for our food. Others waited longer. Unfortunately, although it was only early on a Saturday evening, they told us that only one of two who were due to have new potatoes with our meal could have them - only to be told... More

Driving down to stay with friends for the bank holiday and wanted some lunch. Saw the sign beside the main road advertising the George Inn and thought we would give it a try. Located at the cross road in a very pleasant village. Good parking, wandered through the rear courtyard into the main bar areas. Various levels and seating areas... More

We walked here across bridleways and footpaths with two dogs and we were not disappointed. The food was excellent and we are both vegetarians. The staff were very friendly and helpful. There are dog treats on the bar

We spent two night B&B recently, I say B&B because 1 week before we visited we received an email informing us that the restaurant didn't open Sunday, Monday and Tuesday night and as we were staying Monday and Tuesday night it meant having to find alternative eating places. The establishment changed hands late last year and is to be refurbished.... More
