I would not spend more than one night there. It was a ghostly town in the summer. Hardly anyone around. the only people we saw were the ones staying at the hotel. The room was more like an appartment. very large, 2 separate rooms with a kitchen. We had dinner there. recommendable. there was only one lady serving the whole...

First of all we were not shown to rooms - just pointed in the direction of the adjoining building. Not a good first impression of the general introduction. When in the first room we had drainage smell in bedroom which wasn't pleasant. Other people have also commented about this in the reviews and we experienced this first hand. Restaurant was...

twowheeltours stayed at Grand Hotel de France again during the Haute Route Pyrenees event in 2015. We have stayed there before and enjoy their large rooms and quiet location. They are very helpful in regards to storage of bikes and allowing plenty of room for large groups. The buffet breakfast in the morning was perfect for us as we were...

In summary there are better hotels in the Valley of Saint-Savin; in Cauterets and in particular in Saint- Savin itself, which has two very nice hotels in a much prettier village, with a thirteenth centaury Abbey. I had been planning to write a review comparing Le Grand Hôtel De France to Fawlty Towers ever since our group of 5 got...

The hotel itself was fine. We had not prebooked, and as no double rooms were available, we took a family room,;no rate reduction offered, so paid the price of family room. Our room was spacious, and clean. We took the half board package, and joined only 4other travellers in the dark dining room, for a lackluster dinner. Not surprised there...

In a pleasant sort of way, this previously grand hotel slightly off main town centre, was nice for one night. Room big but apparently all room fridges did not work in our part of hotel whereas aircon did not work in other rooms. Had dinner here n discovered the 2 ladies at front of hotel were also chefs de hotel....

twowheeltours has stayed at Grand Hotel De France since 2012 - we have used the hotels for many private cycling tours and also during the Haute Route Pyrenees cyclosportif. The rooms are grand, high ceilings and majestical, they have very comfortable beds, clean, the staff is great (speaking English and French). There is a substantial cold breakfast in the mornings...

We stayed one night as part of a Pyrenees walking holiday. The décor is outstanding, both the rooms and the common areas. But our arrival seemed to be unexpected and at first we were given a room which was still being decorated. We were on half board, so the fixed menu was fine and well cooked, but another party decided...

This is the second time we've booked the entire hotel for Spyns Tour de France tours in the Pyrenees. Starting with the positivies, the hotel has made great strides over the past two years as far as staffing is concerned. The capable new manager, Françoise, and her staff were warm, welcoming, and extremely hard-working. I have rarely stayed in a...
