The covid restrictions were handled very well at this establishment. Restaurant and bar services professionally handled along with a registration system. Was also given the option of having housekeeping or not. Good Hilton standards
Our flights were changed at departure and we ended up being diverted to Geneva, then missing corresponding flights. So we were put up for one night in what was the Starling Hotel, now a Hilton, near the Geneva airport. Check-in was relatively easy, but there was some difficulty being able to use the phone to contact our actual destination and no public computer. Our room was modern, comfortable, quiet and clean. We did not use the pool, but it looked pretty good. There were several places to eat on-site, those we tried were good. We were given public transport passes by the hotel reception which we discovered included water transport on Lake Geneva – a fun way to spend a jet-lagged afternoon/evening. The bus to the lake was just a few minutes walk from the hotel and about a 15 minute bus ride to get to the centre of Geneva. A wonderful, completely unexpected stay – and the transport passes were the “icing on the cake”.…
This is a brand-new Hilton which opened on October 1st this year. It was previously the Starling Hotel. However, even allowing for teething problems and Covid restrictions, it needs to address some issues. I will start with the positives. The staff are just great, from the reception through to our lovely chambermaid, the restaurant and the executive lounge. Definitely a cut above the average! The restaurant was good, much better than it used to be when it was the Starling. The menu is the same whether you eat in the bar or the restaurant. Our executive room was very spacious, quiet, and had a pleasant view. However, it may have been redecorated since Hilton took it over, but it certainly didn’t seem to have been refurbished. It was rather dated, particularly the bathroom, although everything was impeccably clean. There were no glasses in the bathroom, so nowhere to put your toothbrush or for rinsing your teeth, and the hairdryer was very old and primitive. Also, we were told to use the same bath towels for both the swimming pool and the room. There was only one bedside table (nightstand), so the second person had no choice but to put everything on the floor (very annoying if you have a teacup, book, laptop…). There was no expresso machine in the executive room (come on, this is 2020!!), just a kettle with instant coffee and a couple of teabags. There were not even any spoons, which made it difficult to stir the coffee or fish out tea bags from the cup (spoons can be washed, so don’t blame Covid!). The flatscreen TV was nice and large but the remote control was an antique with no menu button or channel list, so although there was a good choice of channels, you had to click on each one individually to see what was on. It took ages to go through the list (to find the language channels you might want to watch) and unless you wrote down the various channels, you had to start again each time you turned on the TV. It was so useless and annoying that in the end we decided to use our laptops to stream TV. The executive lounge was on the ground floor. It was adequate but not great. Unfortunately, it had no windows, so was dark and not particularly nice to sit in during the day. Also, it had very few electric sockets, so bring an extension cable with you if you want to work for any time on your computer. The swimming pool was open to school classes, which is very laudable, but not so great for hotel guests even though there was a lane reserved for them. All in all, we were rather disappointed with the hotel. Hilton has really missed an opportunity to introduce a modern, entirely refurbished hotel to the Geneva airport scene. Instead it is just another of the many mediocre 4-stars to choose from around the airport.…
Great hotel, excellent front desk check in - so smooth Do book a junior suite as its well worth it and you have a beautiful huge round bath tub. Also lots of light in the room and spacious terrace with sun loungers. Free shuttle to airport if needed. Onsite parking also offered at 20chf however a promotional offer meant it was free on this stay. This would be my hotel of choice when staying for business in Geneva. However it does have excellent pool/ spa and gym (well equipped) so it could serve as a more leisurely stay as well. I do love this hotel as it ticks all the boxes and service is sso professional.
I booked a night for Sept 2020 through Booking.com to attend a wedding. Due to CV19 it was cancelled. The hotel despite having 6 months notice refuses to give me a refund. Saying I could transfer the room to a guest of my choise. WTF would I want to do this? If this were a proper business hotel, they would at least offer to transfer the room to a time convenient to me. But not, despite many exchanges they won't budge. Pity they're still in business.
