Having known The Wheelwright since it was a tea room we were saddened last summer to find a pub with no atmosphere and few local customers. We were tempted not to call there when we returned to the area last week but we are so glad we did. We discovered a local couple had taken over and the welcome was... More

We very much enjoyed our lunch at the Wheel Wright Inn which is a very pretty traditional thatched pub. The puddings were particularly good. Really friendly service. Will definitely return on our next trip to Devon.

we visited twice in august. Once to listen to Alan West and Steve Black play (very good musicians with huge following) and the second time just to eat as it was so good the first time. My mum and dad go here at least twice a month and eat here every time. I had the spicy pork belly which was... More

After being a local to this pub for a long time, I asked the day before if we could have a meal the following day. They said yes if we got there early, but we couldn't book a table in the bar. I got there with my family to find that two tables were booked in the bar for locals,... More

Our review is based solely upon a visit for an evening meal and, sadly, we found that the Inn fell short in two areas. The meals were not thought to be particularly good, fish somewhat tasteless (slightly undercooked?) and a meat meal over spiced. In short, edible and not bad enough to complain about but not enjoyable. In addition, although... More

Having driven past this pub on several occasions we decided to give it a go and were NOT disappointed. Staff were all very welcoming upon our arrival and we were shown to our table which was lovely. Menu was lovely and varied - something to suit everybody - even had a few "different" dishes which was refreshing to see. Considering... More

This was my third visit over the last year and I have always been happy with the food and service. This time around, it seemed like there were new owners or something similar? We only wanted a light lunch but were given the full menu, which didn't have any light bites so we opted for soup. Then we noticed a... More

Before I write a review I always have a look at what others have said and in this and other establishments I ask myself the above question because I cannot agree. I noticed the sign in the car park adjacent to the disabled parking area which invited users to ring a bell if assistance is needed - nice touch. I... More

We were staying in a hotel up the road overnight and called in to the Wheelwright for dinner. It had only opened under new management two days before, so we really weren't sure what to expect. We sat in the dining room, which was lovely and cosy on a cold night. The service was great, but the food was nothing... More
