#5 of 10 Speciality lodging in Kibale National Park
Travellers' Choice
Experience the world renowned Ugandan hospitality amidst unrivaled nature, scenery and serenity in the heart of Kibale rainforest National Park, Uganda’s primates’ paradise; Primate Lodge Kibale’s principal edge is our location, right next to the starting point for Chimpanzee Tracking excursion as well as the incredible Chimpanzee Habituation experience, really, two of the most genuinely breathtaking wildlife experiences on the planet. Primate Lodge Kibale Offers a range of options to accommodate all our guests. Our most recent addition, the brand new 9 luxury cottages of a superior design are bound to blow your heart away. Far more spacious and airy, with luxurious bathrooms, really huge glass windows and full size glass paneled sliding doors- they let in a lot of natural light and affording 180 degree views of the beautiful rainforest surroundings from your bed. Our seven mid-level forest cottages are en-suite with spacious bathrooms, 2x twin size beds or 1x king size bed, lounge chairs and a spacious verandah overlooking the rainforest. For our adventurous guests, we offer a secluded Sky Tree House (not self-contained) about 200m deep in the forest. Elevated about 18-feet above ground and overlooking a meadow, it enjoys excellent views over the forest canopy and is regularly visited by black and white colobus monkeys, red tailed monkeys, blue monkeys, forest elephants, even chimpanzee sometimes.

I visited three countries in Africa last November. The Primate Lodge was my favourite lodge and I was fortunate to have two nights there. The lodge is beautiful set right in the Kibale Forest, my room was amazing, clean something right out of a magazine, my bed turned down each night complete with a hot water bottle, cozy fireplace, and the sound of the rain on the roof was my lullaby. The food was outstanding. To wake up to monkeys playing in the trees was such an awe experience... I was not expecting any of this. BUT it was the people that made the biggest impact and my stay perfect. Hanington and Vincent thank you for everything! All the extra touches and making sure I was well looked after. I was travelling solo and they made sure my experience was top notch. Your customer service is above the rest! I am coming back next year for another couple nights and absolutely recommend this lodge to anyone! Kelly Murray

The location could not be more perfect. There is constantly interesting wildlife around the lodge. I saw 4 species of primates right at the lodge the 2 Nights I was there, including a bush baby and chimpanzees along the trail right behind the lodge (very lucky). The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The waiter Vincent was always there to help us whenever we needed it, and I appreciated the effort he made to establish a genuine connection during our stay (I think it’s time for a pay raise ;) The rooms were spacious and comfortable with nice balcony’s. The food was delicious, however our allergies were not always taken seriously. Several times the allergen foods were not removed the dish when we were told they would be, and when we asked not to be given an item (in packed lunch, etc) they were given anyway. This could have caused serious issues had our allergies been more severe. Overall a great stay, and if I ever return to Uganda, I will be staying at Primate Lodge again.

This was my second time staying at Primate Lodge. David, Jockus, and Vincent who run the bar and restaurant are very hospitable and friendly, always having my best interest at heart. The manager G is cordial and funny, always looking to make the guests happy. The location of the lodge is perfect with a million butterflies flying around and colobus monkeys playing in the trees. The rooms are quaint and cozy with the softest sheets, just the perfect place to wind down after a full day of hiking and chimps galore.
