Had a wonderful stay! The location is excellent, in a really beautiful part of Sherbrooke and walking distance to really lovely restaurants, cafes and shops. The house is gorgeous and beautifully restored, and it was interesting to walk around the little garden and house and learn about its history. My absolute favorite part was the breakfasts!! The dinning/sun room is stunning in the fall, and each breakfast (we had three) was unique and delicious, with food sourced from local producers.
The bedroom and common rooms were all beautiful, clean, and full of a sense of history. The food was inventive and delicious, and the service was impeccable. My only wish was that I had more time to enjoy it. It's conveniently located a short walk from many restaurants downtown.
The driveway/ walkway was all ice.The signs were not lite. Saw 2 only people slip and almost fall. Got to the front door and were told to wait outside. It was 11% and windy or walk back over all the ice to wait in car..So check in is after 4:30 pm..Were offered no snacks or told how far away a restaurant was. Felt more like being locked in our room till the next day.The lady accused me of not answering here e mails about covid vaccine. I had answered all her questions. To even enter Canada i needed proof of vaccine.
Absolutely lovely experience at Île de Garde. Hosts are gracious and accommodating. We pre-booked the last room available for the Saturday we were travelling, so two single beds. Room was exquisite in cleanliness and decor. Beds were comfortable. The historic house is beautifully decorated. As we arrived in the evening and needed supper, we didn’t spend much time in the common rooms but wow, very interesting rooms! The inn was a short, safe walk from the downtown area of Sherbrooke where we easily found several restaurants. Breakfast in the morning was outside on the patio and was a delicious, light European meal. We enjoyed our stay immensely and will plan to stay again next time we travel to Quebec. Nous vous remercions tous pour votre chaleureuse hospitalité!
First time in Sherbrooke & Il de garde was my stay both on the first & last night of my week's trip. What a fabulous, elegant way to begin a great week in Ottawa viewing the tulips. The room had access to a lovely balcony, the night was quiet & the breakfast was superb! Rooms were beyond clean & comfortable-- Wonderful & welcoming hosts & thought-filled customer service in every way. Lovely Sherbrook & it's water & murals. Can't wait to visit again. THANK YOU!!!!
This was my first time in Sherbrooke, loved this historic B&B. We stayed two nights; our hosts were warm, gracious, and accommodating (I was in the city for medical tests, and yet it felt like a lovely visit). Breakfasts were elegant and scrumptious! I hope to stay here again.
We stayed here for one night on our journey to Tadoussac, Quebec, and we were so very happy we chose the Ile de Garde. It is in a quiet part of this very pretty city. The room was immaculate, the breakfast very good and beautifully plated. Our hostess was very helpful. And while I bet you would not lack for interesting conversation in this university town, the breakfast table here had fascinating people absolutely willing to share in the conversation - although you will need some French. In all, a great place to stay and well worth it.
We had a delightful stay at Ile de Garde. Clean. Beautifully restored and furnished 19th century home. Quiet. Comfortable King bed. Nice, bright bath and shower. Great location. Fabulous breakfast. Wonderful hostess who gave us a great rec on places to eat. We would definitely stay here again.
This B&B is terrific. It is spacious, amazingly well appointed, comfortable and well sited for access to the city and its restaurants. We had another couple with us and arrived in the late afternoon, received a great recommendation for supper and were able to walk. The hosts are originally from Avignon and are unsurpassed in their hospitality. Breakfast was a gourmet event, probably the best I've had at any B&B whether in the US or Europe. This is a destination in and of itself.
Couldn't be better! Unforgettable breakfast, kind hosts, wekk-equipped and spacious room. I was so satisfied with this B&B, and If I have a chance to visit Sherbrooke again, I WILL stay here again.
