My daughter and I wanted a decent room for a weekend stay to see a show at a local club. Not imagining things would be booked, we waited until a few weeks before to book the hotel. Bad choice, as it was Canadian Thanksgiving weekend! So we stayed here. The room was sparse and cheaply furnished, bathroom was fairly clean...

4 of us arrived at this hotel in Montreal for a weekend, The service was just horrible. The cleaning lady dumped all of my friends clothes on the floor and the rooms were not cleaned at all, Bed sheets were not changed and another one of my friends had to go see a doctor when we returned home because of...

This place was exactly what we were looking for: Room with NO shared bathroom, close to subway station, flat rate to airport, secure access, friendly & knowledgeable staff, AND decent pricing. We would come back again for the next RnR run weekend event next year.

We booked a 2 queen bed room for 4 of us at the Elegant Hotel through Booking.com. When we checked in around 10am, the hotel front desk man said that we had to wait until 3pm (while Hotel Policies posted on their website: Check-in time starts at 1 PM). I told him that was fine, we could wait. In few...

For what you pay for it this is really a great hotel! The room was spacious and clean. The location was perfect, next to several bars and restaurants and very close to the metro station. Breakfast was not exceptional but abundant.

Staff very pleasant, rooms big, clean towels, beds, ceramics however daily room servicing comprised of bed making and clean towels, glasses used were not washed for the guest. The hotel lacks attention to detail regarding detailed cleaning. Hotel looks as if it had ben redecorated recently and new windows. Breakfast very basic. Hotel has lots of potential needs some work...

I was not expecting much from this hotel as it was quite cheap. I was staying at the end of summer with typically high occupancy rates so I anticipated that this hotel would be a 'DIVE'. How wrong I was. After a speedy check in, I found my room to be clean, simple and to have no external noise. The...

If you looking for anything but basic this hotel is not for you. The hotel is located in the downtown right at the heart of what's called the village. It is the hottest spot for the gay community in Montreal. It is 4 minutes walking distance to the nearest subway station. The Internet is free and very fast. I was...

The hotel is located in a convenient place, but the facilities are very poor. We had two rooms. One of the door of a bathroom had a hole in the place of the lock, so you can't lock the door. Moreover, when we went down to have breakfast in the morning, which is very basic with croissants and muffins, my...

Staying in The Village (Gay Village)

Neighbourhood Profile
The Village (Gay Village)
The rainbow pillars of Beaudry Métro Station shepherd the way into to The Village, one of the largest hubs for gay and lesbian culture in North America. With an open layout and a congenial aura, the refurbished buildings along Rue Sainte-Catherine pay a special homage to menswear and to caffeine, with showrooms and cafes. By morning, the antiquing gems along Amherst Street are packed with collectors. An incredible party spot, The Village comes alive at night, when clubs, bars, and dance halls open their doors and the revelry is high, epitomised by the fanciful trimmings of the apropos Oscar Wilde building. From May to September, the area closes to automotive traffic, allowing restaurant terraces to pour onto the streets, creating a dynamic sense of community. Les Boules Roses, thousands of pink baubles, are hung to welcome in the festivals and celebrations, including Montréal en Arts, Divers-Cité, and the Pride Parade.
