Agree with all reviews - Stayed over Labor day weekend so Montreal was very busy and expensive - as result Bharat Bhavan was great option. Really handy Metro station (of some architectural note when inside) and good places to eat - up and coming area but dogged by roadworks at moment. Rooms were fine - good TV system so could...

We booked Residence Bharat Bhavan 2 days before arriving in Montréal and we stayed for 3 nights. The hotel itself looked more like a small apartment building - a passcode was needed to get in the building, reception was only available during the day, no restaurant or room service provided. However, toiletries were provided, the linens and towels were clean...

My daughter and I stayed six nights at this hotel. The price was great ($94.00 Can/ngt incl. all taxes) but be prepared for no service. The room we stayed in was clean and neat when we arrived. There is a window air conditioner which was seriously needed because of the heat and humidity during our stay. The location of this...

The Bharat Bhavan Residence is an NGO. As far as I understand their profits are all given away and/or injected into the community. The hotel itself seemed more like a hostel.. A very posh one. Memory foam mattresses and large TV's being the icing on the cake. I would not hesitate to stay there again. The general area it was...

Staying in Le Sud-Ouest (Southwest District)

Neighbourhood Profile
Le Sud-Ouest (Southwest District)
Once the core of industrialised Montreal, the factories and historic buildings of Le Sud-Ouest have been renovated into homes, museums, and small businesses. The rejuvenated landscape has put its Saint-Henri district in vogue, with cutting-edge galleries and an ever-expanding network of restaurants. Foodies can especially delight in the mom-and-pop shops in Little Burgundy, or at the Atwater Market, where outdoor stalls sell fresh fruit, vegetables, and meat, street vendors have menus of hot fish and wine, and the indoor market offers chocolate, breads, and coffee beans. Dominated by the gentle waters of the Lachine Canal, Le Sud-Ouest is still very much an outdoor town, with a number of pedestrian-only bridges traversing the waters, bike paths along the canal with views of the Leisure Boats, and massive green spaces like Angrignon Park to stop for a picnic, or to play a sport.
