Planning rather late, we were very lucky to get a last-minute booking for one night on a holiday weekend. (Normally there would have been a two-night minimum, but there'd been a hole in the schedule.) Even before we made our trip, Dorothy and David were very helpful, responding quickly by email to a couple of questions we had. Once there,...

We stayed at this B&B for a weekend. Let me start by saying that the home itself is beautifully decorated but we had a few negative experiences. First off the water flow in the shower puts new meaning to the words "low-flow". Everyone has stated great things about their breakfasts but we were not that impressed. For the first breakfast...

I found D&Ds on Tripadvisor. Relying on my trusty fellow Advisors, I was not disappointed! We paid CAN$170 (with tax) for each of two weekend nights -- and I would say this is one of the best hotel/inn values around anywhere. This three room B & B is located in a safe lower-middle class section of Montreal. It is certainly...

I had stayed at D&D about the same time last year and had a wonderful time. My return this July proved it wasn't a fluke. David and Dorothy continue to offer a wonderful stay at a fair price. The breakfasts are excellent, the rooms offer all the amenities I wanted, and the roof-top patio is a great place to have...

D&D's was a beautiful place to stay. The B&B is warm and wonderfully decorated with luxurious amenities. The clawfoot bathtub and scented salts were a real treat! Dorothy and David are terrific hosts. They were knowledgeable of the city and helpful in getting us where we wanted to go. Highly recommended.

This B & B is wonderful, very small, with lovely spacious rooms. The third floor bathroom is huge, with an old-fashioned iron tub, a skylight, and lots of fluffy thick white towels. The bathrooms are filled with all kinds of extras, like goat-milk soaps and lotions, and 3 different kinds of bath salts. And robes and slippers! The rooms are...

It was my second time in Montreal—with my parents again, of course. As a college student, I'm too poor to go anywhere myself. I really didn't remember much about our first trip, some six years ago, and our trip this time was too short to take in everything—especially with the frequent, heavy rain that was hovering over the city that...

On a rainy cold weekend we arrived at the D&D B&B in Montreal to be greeted at the door by Dorothy, who welcomed us with a special smile as she recognized us from a previous visit. Having a health problem that caused sleeping difficulties, both she and David went out of their way to accomodate my needs. Our room ,...

Staying in Le Sud-Ouest (Southwest District)

Neighbourhood Profile
Le Sud-Ouest (Southwest District)
Once the core of industrialised Montreal, the factories and historic buildings of Le Sud-Ouest have been renovated into homes, museums, and small businesses. The rejuvenated landscape has put its Saint-Henri district in vogue, with cutting-edge galleries and an ever-expanding network of restaurants. Foodies can especially delight in the mom-and-pop shops in Little Burgundy, or at the Atwater Market, where outdoor stalls sell fresh fruit, vegetables, and meat, street vendors have menus of hot fish and wine, and the indoor market offers chocolate, breads, and coffee beans. Dominated by the gentle waters of the Lachine Canal, Le Sud-Ouest is still very much an outdoor town, with a number of pedestrian-only bridges traversing the waters, bike paths along the canal with views of the Leisure Boats, and massive green spaces like Angrignon Park to stop for a picnic, or to play a sport.
