Had a great stay. The hotel is smaller, but the room was well done and the service was good. Enjoyed the decor, shower had good water pressure which is always nice. I did a lot of walking as the conference I was in town for was at the Sheraton Centre which was about a 15 minute walk away.

I booked this hotel as a surprise for my husband for our wedding anniversary. The hotel is nice, centrally located and has nice rooms. That said - it is certainly NOT the high-end feel that I am used to when staying at a SPG or Meridien hotel - which I do often. I would rate it as a 3-star at...

This is a small hotel and has a boutique hotel feel. The rooms and bed were very comfortable. Every area was clean and the hotel staff was friendly. The location is great for museum visits, restaurants, and shopping. No coffee in the rooms though.

The name Le Meridien got me thinking of luxury branded hotels throughout USA and Asia but not here in Canada. Take note this is NOT anywhere close to luxurious. This hotel is outdated although it looks modern on the surface. The hallway smells staled although inside the room is ok. So imagine an old property with a new coat of...

I arrived in Montreal late one Friday on a weekend business trip, to discover that my partner had booked me into the disgusting Hotel A2K. I was afraid to even put my bags down on the floor, and checked out immediately. With no place to go, I checked online and found Le Meridien Versailles. Yes it was slightly more expensive,...

very big room with comfortable bed and pilots, mini bar, renovated, staff friendly. No gym or sauna families in the building, Great location, just a 2 blocks from the Musee design Beaux Arts de Montréal, Ste-Catherine and Crescent Streets.

Stayed here on aeroplan points. Great value for a downtown Montreal hotel. Location is convenient. Service super friendly and helpful. Vibe is funky and rooms are stylish and modern. Don't worry about parking pull up to the side street (out front curbside is a bus stop) and use valet parking - price is reasonable. Would definitely stay here again.

We stayed on a Monday night in a room with a King bed. The staff was really friendly and helpful. The hotel is very nicely decorated. Our room was fantastic. There's an empty mini fridge to put your own food in and a small microwave, which is great. Everything was spotlessly clean. The bed was so incredibly comfortable and the...

Had stayed here years ago and the recent renos are excellent. Unfortunately wasn't able to get an upgrade as hotel was sold out. Rooms are a decent size and modern. No coffee in the room but they give you coupons for coffee at the bar. Good location. A little far from old Montreal but walkable. Bed so comfortable.

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighbourhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.

Various details of design/ fittings/ finishes/ accessories attracted us as being neat/ different BUT... drawbacks we hit:

- In our room (a junior suite), be prepared to get down on your knees to operate the room safe as it is conveniently (not) located about 6" above ground level. For some, no problem, but at our age and with our arthritics, a major problem. So we just didn't use it.

-The elevator buttons have a circle of light round them when pushed. But there is no light to make it easy to see on the panel WHICH FLOOR you want. Why on earth put a dark number embossed on a similar dark background? Absolut nuts. We saw other people having the same problem, needing to peer at the panel from a few inches away!

-First hotel we've used in 40 years where there was no walk-in shower - you had to enter the tub to use it. For us, a major concern there was no grab handle to help getting on or if we should slip.

- Service charming but slapdash. Imagine ordering croissants and jam, and getting croissants with mayo and ketchup! And the ONLY place in decades when you ask for a cup of coffee it literally comes in a cup covered with plastic wrap. Which fails to keep it hot on the trip from the kitchen to the guest room. Why on earth not have small pots/vacuum flasks like everyone else?

-Service again. Charming but ... at the desk we asked for our check while we waited for the taxi to come. Guy says sure and goes to computer but is immediately diverted by another guest wanting some tourist information. Why didn't he complete our check first? 5 minutes later taxi comes, no check. We say we're leaving, he says he will email the check. One week later we call and say where's the check? They say sorry, don't know why it wasn't sent, maybe we mislaid your email address. Gimme a break!

- As weekend tourists, a huge disappointment that, after returning from dinner out on saturday night, we could not go to the hotel bar because it and the restaurant were closed for a private function.

- there were other things but I can't recall them now.
