We loved this hotel. My Family and I stayed here for a week in July 2014 and were consistently surprised by the quality of the service and the overall experience of this hotel. The first thing to know about the Nelligan is location. If there is a more central location in Old Montreal, I was unable to find it. We... More

The hotel is located in the heart of old Montreal, on the cobbled street of rue Saint Paul. The hotel was kind enough to give us an upgrade for our wedding anniversary. The junior suite was very spacious and comfortable, with its own fire place. The street is lived with popular restaurants, and a lively bar where we watched the... More

This hotel is very quant & charming. Our room had great character. We loved the big windows & brick walls. Five star amenities were available to make you feel very pampered. Fun terrace bar & good food in the restaurant. The staff is very friendly & accommadating. The conceirge staff were especially helpful. We truly were catered to. The location... More

This boutique hotel exceeded my expectations - in every way, the room, service, wine & cheese, etc. The details of this hotel make all the difference and you will feel spoiled. It is also very convenient for walking and shopping in Old Montreal and a short cab (or subway) trip to shopping on Crescent and St. Catherine.

If you like exposed brick and black furniture mixed with historical touches, this is a fine choice. We were given a large comfortable room with big windows, fireplace and jacuzzi.Service is generally great and very attentive. There were no towels in the fitness center either day and no water the second day but that was the only misstep.

Very nice hotel appointed very well. Request a quiet room. The suite we stayed in was very noisy. On the 2nd floor right above where the delivery trucks unload starting at 6am. Lobby restaurant and lounge very comfortable. Check out the roof restaurant

Nelligan is in a good location. The staff are helpful and the rooms are nice good size and clean. Bar service can be a little slow. The breakfasts are good. The Nelligan is in a terrific location for getting around old Montreal. We arrived on Friday night. You are given drink coupons for the bar on the main floor, however, they have a roof top bar with a view of the River. We went up there and enjoyed the scenery. We had a wonderful couples getaway and stayed in room 414. No noise and no view but an excellent room. The service was outstanding and they were very helpful. Lots of free bottled water and concierge advice. The Terrace Club is an excellent hot spot and the location of the hotel can't be beat. We will return.

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighbourhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic centre of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its centre, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theatre.
