We really love the location of this hotel in Old Montreal and it features some good restaurants of its own. Our room is very comfortable and roomy. Very hip. Extremely clean. We are located by the elevator but we have not heard too much noise. The staff has been very nice and we are very happy with the easy of...

Pent several nights at Hotel Nelligan and was thrilled. The hotel itself is beautiful; lobby, bar, terrace, room - all great. The staff made us feel welcome the moment we entered and the quality of the service never wavered. The concierge, Nathallia, was just wonderful. Friendly, helpful and on the mark with every recommendation. The hotel is located on in my...

I stayed at Hotel Nelligan for three nights over Labor Day weekend. As others have noted, it's a lovely hotel, the staff are friendly and helpful and the rooms are very large by urban hotel standards. However, given the amazing reviews on Trip Advisor and the price point, I guess I expected something more. The only genuine minor complaint I...

Lovely hotel in a great location. Staff is terrific, definitely a place to consider if you are going to Montreal. In fact, when we took the train back from Quebec City to Montreal, we had a few hours to kill before heading to the airport, so we cabbed back here for a farewell rooftop lunch....

The Hotel Nelligan in Old Montreal is a real find. Tucked away on Rue St. Paul directly behind the Notre Dame basilica, it manages to be both modern and Old World brick/stone at the same time. It is steps away from the riverfront and all the sights of Old Montreal. We booked a petite suite and it was HUGE and...

This hotel is an absolute pleasure. The rooms are large, clean and charming. The beds are very comfortable. The location is perfect: in old Montreal. It is surrounded by restaurants, art galleries and shops. But by far the best aspect of this hotel is the staff. Bright, polite, and full of enthusiasm, they are always ready to help you. I...

The hotel was clean, the rooms were a nice mix of old stone/brick and modern touches. Bathrooms were nice, but the rainshower was installed too low. The gas fireplace was a nice touch. The AC was a little loud for light sleepers. The rooftop bar was very convenient, as was the location of the hotel itself. Some rooms are close...

We booked a Petite Suite overlooking Rue St. Paul. Huge windows open up to the street--views pretty much are of the building across the way, and people spilling out onto the street visiting the shops, restaurants and bars. It's lively at night and if you are a light sleeper, this COULD be an issue and though it didn't bother us,...

We stayed in room 422. It is a junior suite and it was very spacious. Loved the exposed brick walls in the rooms. Staff was very gracious and timely. Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighbourhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic centre of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its centre, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theatre.
