Excellent hotel in a great location. The rooftop deck restaurant was amazing!!! I would go there for drinks and appetizers too. We had lunch a few times. A totally cool hotel. The roof top deck was worth a visit if you can't get reservations to stay at the hotel.

Hotel Nelligan was everything we hope it would be. The property is quietly elegant and well-located. The staff are warm and accommodating. When we arrived, the staff was quick to provide an alternate room better suited to our taste. Melanie, one of the concierge staff, was flexible, knowledgeable and very helpful. Weather didn't permit trying their well-regarded terrace, but a...

We stayed in a king atrium room, which is the cheapest of the rooms, but it was still very nice. It is a beautiful brick building with modern decor and was plenty big including the bathroom. Staff was very friendly and helpful, and the rate was very good considering the location and the fact that it included valet parking and...

I had no idea what to expect as my biz booked it for me. Turned out it was just lovely! The room was comfy and we'll appointed. Bathtub was a jacuzzi. Shower is huge. Fantastic location (right in old Montreal behind Notre dame cathedral). Will most definitely will return

We booked sight unseen. Very pleasantly surprised. The friendliest, most helpful staff from the maids to the front desk. Perfect location for Old Montreal. Nondescript entry but a modern hotel built inside a historic structure. Very spacious room with all the amenities. Floor and walls rock solid for quiet. Large soaking tub and separate walkin rain shower to melt the...

My husband and I enjoyed a romantic weekend in Montreal and this hotel exceeded our expectations. The location in Old Montreal was fantastic, amenities in the room were comfortable and the staff was helpful. Our standard room was spacious and had a jetted bath tub as well as a large comfortable bed. We were glad to be on the 3rd...

My husband and I visited over a weekend in April. We booked a King Superior room and requested a quiet room. We received a lovely corner room on the 3rd floor that overlooked a quiet street. The location was great and noise was minimal. The room had lovely exposed brick walls. The bathroom was spacious but a little bit dated....

Hotel is in a great location and although it preserves the original heritage of the building, its decor style seems to be out of place. They had wicker, mixed with leather, carpet in the rooms instead of wood floors. It almost seemed that they were trying to mix modern with rustic and it didn't mix properly. Other than that, service...

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighbourhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic centre of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its centre, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theatre.
