My wife and I loved our stay in Old Montreal and part of that was due to the service and amenities we received from LHotel Montreal. We happened to arrive when Northern Canada was going through a cold weather streak. The staff helped us get around town as covered up as possible and yet still enjoy the city. We enjoyed...

LHotel is in a very striking building on facinating Rue St Jacques, historic home of the banking and financial district. We got a very good special rate, were further upgraded to a queen suite which we found it to be roomy but dated. The charm outweighed some of the drabby and the bathroom had been newly remodeled. Unfortunately, the water...

The rooms are different and trendier but not higher quality. While vintage is cool old and shoddy workmanship aren't luxury. No real facilities or amenities. Wouldn't visit again. Wasn't particularly friendly either.

We had a March break weekend in Montreal. Though the weather was challenging the staff at L'Hotel was kind and available. The gliche with the heat in my room was solved with a smile and kindness. Thanks L'Hotel for you hospitality. Regards, Melissa

Having dinner with another couple one night in NYC, we decided on a getaway trip for a few days and decided on Montreal. We chose LHOTEL based on its website charm. Upon pulling up to the curb the beautiful building struck my fascination. Jan (pronounced John) greeted us curbside and promptly unloaded our luggage and valet parked our car. He...

Relaxed atmosphere and great jazz in the bar. The rooms where comfy and the art and décor very interesting and eclectic. Close to the business area and tourist area so excellent location. Short run/walk down to the water so awesome location for some post work exercise.

What a great place to say. Such a calm and beautiful setting with amazing and interesting artwork. Rooms were spacious. A little more counter space in the bathroom would have been nice. The staff members were friendly, hospitable and helpful with all of our needs, questions and concerns. Jan (hope I spelled correctly) was by far the jack of all...

What a lovely surprise this hotel was. The hotel lobby is eclectic and the art through out wonderful but our room was superb! The ceilings must have been 12ft high. It was by far the nicest room we have ever stayed in. It felt palatial, truly! The room was huge. The most wonderfully comfortable king bed with a comfy sofa...

Love the LHotel! My husband and I went for my birthday in January and were very happy we chose it. This is such a quaint, beautiful, historic hotel. The pictures definitely match the rooms. The large rooms you see online are the suites that you'd pay extra for but even the normal size rooms are nice. They have very high...

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighbourhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic centre of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its centre, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theatre.
