A few steps away from old Montreal and it's wonderful eating places, the waterfront and even convenient for business venues and la gare. Most staff are friendly and courteous even if you do not speak Quebecqouis ? (Apologies if this is not correct spelling) very well. Hotel is quiet, calm and has an outdoor eating area/garden. My bedroom was very...

I have stayed at this property for a number of times now; both for business and for pleasure and I have never left disappointed. Staff is wonderful and very courteous. The rooms are wonderfully appointed and very spacy. And the location is downright fantastic; in the centre of Old Montreal; very close to great boutiques and some of the best...

I wish I could award 4 1/2 to this hotel. It has a superb location right next to the Notre Dame Basilica in the heart of Old Montreal. There is an ample selection of restaurants and nice shops within easy walking distance of the hotel. The room itself was spacious, modern and had a nice Nespresso machine to use free...

Smack dab in the middle of Old Montreal lies the Le Saint-Sulpice Hotel. Our Family was warmly greeted, the bags and car efficiently whisked away, and we were checked into our 4th floor Deluxe Suite early. The room was well appointed and clean; with huge windows that opened up to the cobblestone streets and action below. A fully supplied/equipped kitchen...

My husband has mobility problems so we requested a "special needs" room. We were told that it would be ready at 3pm, We arrived at 3:15 and had to wait one hour an a half. We asked how long we would have to wait, the staff didn't know and didn't seem to care. The bathroom floor didn't look clean, two...

We stayed with our 11 month old daughter who needs warm milk and goes to bed early, so the suite at St Sulpice with mini kitchen area and lounge seperate to the bedroom was perfect for us. Very high quality, stylish hotel in a perfect location for Old Montreal. Negatives: the wifi was appalling, often un-usably slow with frequent drop...

My daughter was dancing in the North American Irish Dance Nationals in Montreal and the St. Sulpice Hotel was a fabulous place for us to stay. It's right in Old Montreal steps from the Notre Dame Basilica and about 3 blocks from the Convention center where the competition was being held. The metro station is there as well so we...

We have stayed at Le Saint-Sulpice twice and have had great experiences each time. It's a great location next to Notre Dame Cathedral and in the heart of the Old City. You are near the metro and can walk to great restaurants, museums and it has wonderful rooms. Some rooms have gas fireplaces, and an outdoor balcony. Comfortable beds, lovely...

We enjoyed our stay but there are some bumps that need to be ironed out. The front desk staff was friendly and professional but the check-in was a hassle. When we arrived there was nowhere to park in front of the hotel and nobody to greet us to provide guidance or collect our luggage. The street is very narrow so...

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighbourhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic centre of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its centre, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theatre.
