Great hotel near right near the water and short walk to the Vieux Port. Newer rooms with great and friendly service. Will be back. Nice bar and the staff was helpful. Great 55 birth day break. Large and newer rooms and comfortable beds. Good price for downtown.

I traveled to Montreal for a solo stay to just relax. I brought my little Frenchie and from our arrival at check-in to our departure, the staff were absolutely amazing. I was made to feel very welcome and the unexpected upgrade was an incredible surprise! The location of the hotel is superbe and literally steps away from the beautiful cobblestone...

Our stay at the St. Paul was a great experience. While the outside retained its great old architectural features of the turn of the century, the inside was ultra-modern, clean and comfortable. The bathroom was spacious and the tub must have been the biggest and deepest I've ever seen in a hotel. The breakfast was great - lots of choices...

We spent three nights here in late August, never warmed up to the place...black walls and floor, elevator, and, poor lighting didn't help our experience. The worse lamps ever in room literally made reading in small dark room impossible. Then slow, and rude behavior by staff in hotel bar added insult to injury. Positives: great location, wonderful mattress...Decor, and staff...

Hotel St Paul was VERY accomidating to all our Guests who stayed here for a wedding. The views, style, staff were all 100%. Rooms are clean, had a great sleep. I stayed at this hotel a few times while visiting Montreal on business. The hotel is ultra modern in its decor and in the music you hear in the lobby and bar. Dear DeeG1230, Thank you for sharing your impressions on the Hotel St Paul. Design is part of our core DNA as we have our very own designer, Ms. Ana Borrallo, creating a charming and modern look for our boutique hotel. The materials used in-room provoke a great contrast with the minimalist corridors. We have more updates coming to our design...

Wonderful location and really appreciated the upgrade. Overall service, while very friendly, could have been better, especially in providing amenities such as slippers. No pay tv as advertised. Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighbourhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic centre of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its centre, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theatre.

Nestled in an original Beaux-Arts building in the historic quarter of Old Montreal, the St Paul opened in 2001 as Canada’s first ever boutique hotel. The 119-room property, designed by Montreal-based design firm Borrallo Interiors offers a timeless blend of past and present, and an innovative design that maintains the integrity of the building’s original architecture. Bold juxtapositions of color and texture heighten the senses and transport guests on a visual journey throughout their stay. Masculine elements like straight cuts and strong lines collide with feminine expressions found in the fashion-inspired fabrics to create a soothing paradox ... more   less
