There is nothing worse then a trendy design concept as it starts to show its age. The hotel may have looked great when it was new but the room designs are not aging well and now are on the verge of looking tacky. The service is lacking, the staff, while friendly really are not very knowledgable. I would not rush...

Lovely hotel. Nice bright clean modern room. Ordered off menu in restaurant- not a problem. Friendly courteous staff. Bonus- short walk to Galerie Blanche- excellent paintings- especially work of L. Ziraldo. Highly recommend hotel.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Looking through the reviews I see a few isolated incidents of rude staff, poor management, and nasty interior. After staying here myself, I can assure you that this is not an isolated incident. My experience with the lower to middle level was appalling. When the staff are asked for anything, they were consistently condescending. For the...

Stayed at the hotel this week for work. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Love that there are plugs and USB ports by the bed! So many hotels don't think of that. The front desk had wonderful recos for restaurants in the area that weren't too touristy. Walking distance to all the beautiful shops and best of all the Cirque...

The service was professional and friendly and the Hambar restaurant/bar in the building is a great addition to the hotel's offerings. I had a lovely, spacious, light-filled room, after I asked to be moved from a dark room with small window facing interior. The location is nice and central with good walking, cycling or other transport options.

Hotel St Paul is the go-to hotel for our business trips in Montreal. A calm and quiet hotel with excellent guest services. The rooms are immaculate and well appointed. The hotel is also situated well, very near to Old Montreal, great restaurants and shopping. We will continue to stay here for many trips to come!

Gorgeous room! The entire property looks great and the best part were the staff. Everyone super friendly and helpful. The location can't be beat in Montreal. Try the restaurant as it was clearly very popular with locals as well as guests.

Good customer service; nice location with a lot of restaurants nearby; the room has modern design. It is located at the center of the old town with only 15-20 minutes walk to main sites like notre dame, and old port.

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighbourhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic centre of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its centre, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theatre.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Nestled in an original Beaux-Arts building in the historic quarter of Old Montreal, the St Paul opened in 2001 as Canada’s first ever boutique hotel. The 119-room property, designed by Montreal-based design firm Borrallo Interiors offers a timeless blend of past and present, and an innovative design that maintains the integrity of the building’s original architecture. Bold juxtapositions of color and texture heighten the senses and transport guests on a visual journey throughout their stay. Masculine elements like straight cuts and strong lines collide with feminine expressions found in the fashion-inspired fabrics to create a soothing paradox ... more   less
