The photo online portrays this hotel to be at least a little bit glitzy. Reality is it's an old tired hotel with: no visual address, no awning (we arrived in torrential rains) no doorman. First impression is a tired hotel with a nondescript front desk & dusty old velvetlike curtains. Nice fireplace & that's about it. Carpets in the halls...

The location was close to all the great restaurants, shops and artifacts Old Montreal has to offer. The staff members at the hotel were friendly and very accommodating. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The bedding is spectacular--fresh, cozy and snuggly. The decor in the hotel was so-so. I'm not an expert but I thought the lighting in the hallway...

Small, sophisticated boutique hotel in fabulous area for walking around. Lots of great restaurants both casual (Le Cartet -- great for breakfast and lunch; also have prepared items to go), and higher end (Le Local is exceptional). For families, the luxury suite with separate room for sleep sofa is really large and nice. The continental breakfast is exceptional and in...

Check in was fast and easy. When we went inside our room, the smell of bleach or clorox was too strong it was nauseating. Called the front desk if they have another room available and within 10 mins. one of the staff came by with the room key. Placed us to another floor. Room is very small. Bathroom is huge....

The location is convenient, the employees are excellent, and the rooms are very nice. I...

I reserved two nights in a Jr. Suite. The hotel is very pretty and the service was great. Front desk staff super helpful, great gym. It lost some major points because of the room service. We landed at 10 PM so we weren't going to be going out for dinner. We ordered room service and while tasty there was little...

A really good choice in terms of service and location. The staff are super friendly and helpful. The boutique feel is nice but we found the lighting overly dim. It is still a very property that is close to restaurants, shopping and the old city.

This is a beautiful building that was converted into a hotel. Once you enter, you're greeted by a lovely, oversized gas fireplace and wonderfully friendly staff. As soon as you exit the small elevator, the hallways are very dim, something that I can assume was meant to be Art Deco, but which does not inspire safety. I was upgraded to...

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighbourhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic centre of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its centre, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theatre.
