My wife and I stayed at the Auberge de la Place Royale in early January, for a visit to Old Montreal. Overall, it was fine experience. We had booked one of the backside (no view) rooms, but, due to issues with rooms, we received a free upgrade to a top-floor, front-side room with a view of the Old Port. The...

Came with my boyfriend for a night in Montreal on our way to Mont Tremblant and were impressed by wonderful our room was especially for the price. We were greeted by the one person who was working that afternoon and he kindly showed us around, gave us recommendations for the area and made sure we were all set up. When...

Only positive thing about the hotel is the location. Mediocre room cleaning. No reception. The phone in the room doesn't work. High price for a average hotel. No restaurant. Bad internet signal. There are no safes or safe deposit boxes for guests.

We had a lovely time in our spacious rooms with the giant duvet covered bed. Right across from parking in the science centre, this European style hotel was quaint and homey The ladies at reception were friendly and helpful like a b&b. The location was perfect!

The staff was very helpful and friendly, the rooms were clean and well stocked. The building and rooms had plenty of charm. Our room faced the Old port of Montréal which to our pleasant surprise displayed fireworks that we were able to watch from our room. We were also within direct walking distance to all the must see's in Old...

I enjoy my room and 2 days stay at this Auberge/Hotel * The Auberge is well located in a nice area of Old Montreal. * The room was spacious, nicely furnished (except TV) and old but with a great '' cachet '' * The view of the Old Port at the 3rd floor was great * Few irritants: - The...

Perfect location in the heart of Vieux Montreal, 10 minutes by walking far from the commercial area. The hotel is very quiete, with clean very big room and super comfortable king size . Wifi available and PC with the reception is always reachable via phone. Very much advisable from cost/quality conparison.

Not interacting with anyone at the property may seem weird at the beginning, but the truth is that the way the check in and check out is managed works flawlessly and allows you to arrive at any time. The room was big, comfortable and quiet. The location is convenient. I will definitely stay there again when I'm in Montreal!

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighbourhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic centre of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its centre, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theatre.
