Over the years I have frequently stayed at the Queen E when in Montreal for business or pleasure. The location is superb - in the heart of downtown - convenient to shopping, business and dining as well as the train station (right below the hotel). A twenty minute walk to old Montreal and the port or the areas of St....

Stayed here for a couple of nights in October 2014 while I was in town on business. The hotel is in a great location downtown, blocks from just about anything you might want, from shopping to restaurants to entertainment. The hotel is very elegant inside, as I've come to expect from Fairmonts, and the staff were all very helpful, friendly...

My partner and I stayed at the Fairmont for two nights on a cold weekend in November. It was exactly what we hoped it would be. We booked through the Fairmont website - They have a few great deals for the fall/holiday season or for additional nights discounted. I was surprised to find it a reasonable price for the reputation...

An elegant hotel that is super handy. It's right next to the city's underground shopping network and extensive subway system. The room was fairly small but beautifully done. I definitely felt like a queen staying here. I found everything in the city a bit pricey with the double tax (federal goods and services tax, then another Provincial tax on top...

I recently staying in this hotel for a dance competition that was held on site. I hadn't stayed in this hotel since I was a university student more years ago than I will ever admit to. To be honest, if I hadn't received a discounted group rate, I would have considered it way overpriced. The parking alone was $33/day. Also...

The price was okay, but not a great deal. The concierge service could have been better. We also stayed at the Frontenac and the mont tremblant a few days later, and those fairmont hotels outdid the queen Elizabeth in every aspect!

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighbourhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
