I had stayed at the Hotel Bonaventure last June for 2 weeks. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay there for many reasons--great location to where I was working, good food, great staff and a nice room. This time, however, was the complete opposite. They have to get their crap together here! There was a strike going with the most of the... More

Interesting challenge arriving at the lobby.....it is a roof top hotel! Loved the swinging chairs looking out on the pool area. Very welcoming staff, we arrived at 11 at night and was checked in very quickly. Bar still open and serving a few dishes, had a very delicious soup. The first 3 days good room service and top restaurant service.... More

High above the traffic and bustle of the city is the welcoming Hotel Bonaventure. The staff are pleasant, the rooms are clean with comfortable beds and bedding, and I highly recommend the breakfast buffet with the great server, an old school genuine host. It is in a great location in the centre of things, without the chaos.

Having not been to Montreal in decades we weren't sure where to stay but decided on this hotel. Not only were we pleased with the location but the friendly staff, clean environment and pleasant surroundings were a great welcome. Would definitely go again, perhaps in the warmer weather to enjoy the outdoor patios.

This is an amazing hotel-so hard to describe, but so worth the visit. It is very unique, roof top hotel with very friendly, helpful staff-which made the trip special. Rooms were clean, pool and other amenities were very unique and special. Bartender was very friendly, as was the front desk and concierge were very helpful.

While this hotel has been around for a long time, it has been updated and is lovely. The room was large and had a little patio. It is a block from the train station and within walking distance of plenty of restaurants and the Bell Centre (home of the Montreal Habs NHL team and a main concert venue).

This hotel is amazing! I just love how they have an outdoor swimming pool that you can use in the winter because of the heating system in the pool. This hotel is also right above the metro,so it is very convenient. And because my family has a dog, this hotel was very convenient for my because it is animal friendly.... More

I really enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Bonaventure Montreal. I choose it because of its vicinity to the downtown area (walkable) and the swimming pool. The room had a nice king size bed and a pull out sofa for my son to sleep on. The view from the window was onto rooftop gardens....it felt very serene and private although,... More

My review will summarize most important points one expects arriving to a hotel first time. But before that, I need to mention that the stuff was on strike and management was replacing regular service, doing it very well! 1. Check in and valet service: both excellent. 2. Room: while the bathroom could have been cleaner, the room including the bed... More

Great Hotel in a good location. My friends and I decided to go to Canada for the 1st time on a leisure vacation, although this hotel seems to be more suited for business patrons. When you arrive at the front lobby you have to take an elevator to the 10th floor to get to the reception desk, something I thought... More

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighbourhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
