Old, dirty, horrible. This hotel is about 50 years past it's sell-by date. The rooms were probably once quite nice. That ship sailed long ago. Bathrooms were old and not up to any sort of modern standard, the room poorly maintained and dirty. Breakfast was a real treat, we were infested by ants, on our clothes, on the table and... More

My wife and I stayed here for a weekend in Late October. The property was beyond fantastic for us. We always look for out of the ordinary hotels to stay out, and this one knocked it out of the park. The staff were friendly and kind. The amenities were modern. And the location for an Old Montreal visit was perfect.... More

You really have the feeling of being in a previous century but with modern utilities well camouflaged. All rooms are not the same size, but all are decorated in the period. Room 4 is huge and beautiful. Included breakfast was individually prepared. The hotel in the most interesting location for tourists. The price is high but good for all special treat.

this is a lovely older hotel with much historic significance BUT please be aware that in mid October the street in front of the hotel was under major construction with noisy trucks and no TRAFFIC allowed for one block around hotel. Just be aware that the price is rather steep for this kind of annoyance but if you are not... More

The pictures of the house are from a long time ago! Ever since, many things are worn out or broken or durty, and nothing is done to make it better. If you like your room and bathroom to be clean, then you will hate the place. The location is perfect to visit Montrėal and this house is unique but unfortunaly... More

If you like old historical buildings and would like to feel like a 1700s princess this is your place. Great location in the relaxing Old Montreal. Only downside is weak wifi in the hotel room but that is really less important and probably easy to fix if they want too. Did not quite like the birds in the lounge... Stay... More

One would be very hard pressed to find a more unique hotel. It is not easy to keep up a historic place but still allow for modern comforts while still preserving the charm, and it does just that. The walled, outdoor patio was a relaxing spot for breakfast. The service overall was great, the room was quiet, clean and the... More

Perfectly located within old Montreal, Gaetan and the staff will make you feel like you stepped back in time, charming you with great food, conversation, and history tidbits about the hotel/B&B. We were able to walk around the cobble stone streets of old Montreal as well as into the business district with ease. Every morning we had a scrumptious breakfast... More

My friend and I stayed here for 3 nights in July and I don't think we could have made a better choice. Such history inside and out but with all the modern touches you'd like to have. The staff was very attentive and friendly. Great location if you're looking for a quite spot near the port and within walking distance... More

This hotel is very charming. Full of antiques and period-looking furniture, but still very clean. Our room was large with a couch, a four poster bed and a large armoire, and a chaise. The continental breakfast is good and hearty for walking around downtown. Please be aware that this is an old building - there are a lot of stairs... More

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighbourhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic centre of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its centre, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theatre.
