We were in a sticky situation with another hotel very late at night and found this one on the internet and had taxi drive us there. Was in luck that they had a room and at a decent price. Got a Standard room and it was fine. Mattress was good and that is what I'm most concern as I don't...

Clearly the Universel has been renovated a few times. My room had been renovated recently, and was in great shape. The bath layout was elegant and efficient. The view to the north was great, and in September, the oblique view to the sunrise was beautiful. The staff was helpful, with no issues using English for my benefit. The hotel is...

To be honest there is nothing outstanding to write about this hotel, in fact there are lots of negative things I can write, but its great location and ever helpful stuffs made my stay in this hotel enjoyable. This non smoking property with decently clean rooms is just one block away from the nearest Metro station. Bio dome, planetarium, Olympic...

First of all. The hotel was in perfect location to the Brazilian jiujitsu tournament literally right across the street which is why we stayed. The front desk was awesome and gave us directions to the best eats and the best plays around the city. The only thing I wish that was different was the bed. It was like sleeping on...

This is an older hotel but has been maintained well. (Though not thoroughly renovated anytime recently. It looks a bit rough and industrial on the outside but is much nicer inside and the rooms are clean and not terrible. The first room I was given had all of the knobs broken off of every lamp in the room, the front...

We stayed at the Universal for over a week while visiting family nearby. The room cost included breakfast - and was good value overall. We booked the stay via email from Australia, and the communication with the hotel was excellent. We had a quiet room near the back of the hotel. It was recently renovated, so quite nice. The toilet...

We chose this hotel because it is located right across the street from Space for Life (Biodome, botanical garden, etc). The hotel is probably rather old, but thoroughly renovated. Although its age is rather obvious, it is clean and well maintained. The staff is friendly. There are plenty of parking spaces. Breakfast is not included, but I think you can...

The best location is near downtown. Only stay here if visiting the garden or olympic stadium. The subway was a little far but walkable. Doors slam from other apartments so getting a restful sleep is hard. Overall, the price could have been lower considering how far away it is from downtown and NO BREAKFAST INCLUDED (only discounted). There is nothing...

Where to start. The fire code violations with horrible lighting are just the tip of the iceberg. Don't book here if you want a good nights sleep. You can here everything from multiple rooms over. There is no microwave so do not bring anything that would require heating. The washroom is smaller the. Most people's closets. And you have to...

Staying in Olympic Park & Hochelaga-Maisonneuve (HoMa)

Neighbourhood Profile
Olympic Park & Hochelaga-Maisonneuve (HoMa)
Named for the Olympic Stadium complexes built for the 1976 games, the Olympic Park and the surrounding neighbourhood of Hochelaga-Maisonneuve (HoMa) make up an invigorated area dedicated to "Space for Life." Around the Olympic Village's arenas and stadiums, Rue Sherbrooke welcomes exploration of its sculpture gardens decorated in the works of Jean-Paul Riopelle and its museum culture headed by the historical Château Dufresne. Maisonneuve Park offers interactive experiences at its bio-dome, insectarium, planetarium, and botanical gardens. For a change of scene, the gentrified space along Rue Ontario Est is packed with the city's newest, edgiest cafes, where an imaginative, youthful crowd sips foamy cappuccinos. A visit here is incomplete without stepping into the vast halls of the Maisonneuve Market, with flower stalls, wine depots, and local produce.
