Knowing that our stay would be in an authentic century old building, I did not expect our room to be as comfortable as it was. The location is fantastic for being close to the downtown Montreal scene, and the art gallery, and the eateries. I will definitely recommend this location if you like to experience a unique accommodation.

Nice cozy stay in the heart of Montreal. Princella, at front desk did all to make our stay even more comfortable. However, the breakfast could have been much better when compared to places of similar stature. By the no lifts in the property is compensated by the Bell boys who are handy to shift your luggage down to the room....

Our organization had meetings in Montreal and stayed here. I enjoyed it. Comfortable beds and a nice setting. A few things are dated, and the location isn't ideal if you are looking to spend time in Old Montreal. About a $15 cab ride gets you there though. It is great value though and a very nice place to stay that...

Old and drab upgraded to a room with fireplace for free but it was on the fourth floor no elevator no need for fireplace as heat rises and couldn't use it too hot. Valet parking but we were not informed it was on another street in their sister hotel parking lot and a $27.00 charge and not very convenient if...

Very kind young staff who do not treat middle-aged folk as invisible or risible. I tripped over the weird threshold upon arrival and everyone was all concern and kindness immediately. Lovely older building that has been updated but not over-modernized for its style. Comfortable rooms, well sized, tile and marble bathrooms, all the amenities one could desire. Unfortunate sexist art...

We stayed here on a busy weekend and unfortunately got a room in the basement. It's a decent hotel if you don't mind older buildings. It's clean and well-kept. However, there are better and more spacious 4*, if you can pay more. Excellent location, don't remember noise issues. Breakfast was ok.

Recently stayed again in this hotel - it's an extremely charming property in the downtown area, close to restaurants, shopping, etc. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Room size can depend on what type you get, but the ones I've stayed in are very comfortable. No elevator, so if stairs are an issue for you, you might want to look...

We enjoyed our 3 night stay at the chateau Versailles very much. The room was clean and spacious and location close to metro, restaurants, art galleries and shopping. It has a fantastic history with antiques and photos throughout the hotel. We will definitely stay here again.

We were to Montreal last weekend to see a hockey game and stayed at Chateau Versailles. The hotel is very nice. Rooms are large and clean. The front desk staff are very nice, both welcoming you and looking after you if you require anything during your stay, The morning breakfast is very good. It is a typical European style breakfast....

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighbourhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
