Neighbourhood
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.

Le St-Martin is a nice boutique hotel. The lobby is small, as are the rooms, however the front desk and bellhop service is great. Being greeted nicely after a long flight with a smiling face and a cold bottle of water is a nice touch. The hotel is dated and when I asked for a

Dear Mr. sbudden76; While we appreciate the positive feedback from your comments; we are however truly saddened to hear about the negative ones. We work every day with all teams and departments to make sure every guest gets a wonderful & perfect stay. It seems that we had failed to exceed your expectations which we take extremely seriously. Please rest assured your feedback and time will be taken very seriously and we will make sure to work on this situation. We hope nonetheless that you would still visit us again and get the “Perfect Experience” we work so hardly for! Thank you again for taking the time with the survey;

Have stayed here twice and the rooms, service and location are top notice. Rooms are clean and well accommodated. This might be one of the better hotel values in the central Laval area. It's also located near numerous shopping and restaurant venues

Great location, very well appointed rooms that are super comfortable. Gym is too small, buffet breakfast is nothing special, but the a la carte scrambled eggs with potato and gf toast was very good. Cappucino was very ordinary, to be polite, but the service was first rate.

Stayed three nights. Comfortable, modern, clean and one of the quietest rooms I’ve ever stayed in. Great location, good service. Only negative point was the breakfast buffet, which was not included in the hotel fee. I went down over an hour and a half after the buffet was opened.

Hello Cristin C, Thank you for sharing your experience with TripAdvisor readers. We`re glad you found your stay to be peaceful. We would like to apologize on behalf of our restaurant, Gustave for the lacklustre breakfast experience. I will make sure to send your comment regarding the service you received to the restaurant manager. It seems we dropped the ball on this occasion and we always strive to improve. We hope you stay with us again soon.

A short review would read, great bedroom, good evening meals in the restaurant, however the breakfast itself was dreadful and the service even worse. This was so bad that we decided to take the advice we were given on the desk when arriving and eat elsewhere after the first day.

Hello nigeln2013, Thank you for sharing your thoughts with the TripAdvisor community. We appreciate your opinions and will work with the restaurant to improve their breakfast service. I`m surprised you don`t find us centrally located. We are located directly in the shopping district and around the corner from a movie theatre. We are mere blocks away from the Contemporary Art Museum and Fine Arts Museum as well as the Bell Centre for hockey games and concerts. We even have a metro station across the street from us to get you anywhere you want in the city. Admittedly, we are a bit out of the way of Old Montreal if you`re walking but even that`s not too far away. Hopefully you can stay with us again and allow our staff to give you hints and tips on the best way to maneuver through the city.

Is the heated pool seasonal or year-round?
It’s outdoors....heated year round. Hot tub temperature. Not really good for swimming, as one narrow lane.

"Update the shower - tiles are old and grout is coloured."
"Get a high floor corner room."
"We've tried the Verrière Suite and the Classic Room. I would probably try to get a classic king facing Metcalfe again. We were on 11."
"Try to get a higher floor to eliminate any street noise although we were on the 2nd floor and it wasn’t bad at all!"
"Be sure to ask for a high-floor room. My 2nd floor room was noisy despite assurances to the contrary"
