We stayed at Le Rayon Vert for five days and loved it. The owner, Diane, is very friendly, welcoming, and helpful - really makes you feel like a guest in her home. The house is beautiful and charming, breakfast with the guests is great and a perfect way to meet other people and get advice on what's good to do...

Even though we only had one night at La Rayon Vert, we really enjoyed our stay very much. It was our first B&B in Canada but we immediately felt like home there. For dinner we went down to the harbour side and we enjoyed our first evening in Montreal there. After a good sleep, our breakfast was delicious and we...

Despite the excellent location, Le Rayon Vert leaves a lot to be desired. While the coffee is excellent, the breakfast is only fair. The beds are hard (we stayed in two different rooms) and the rooms are hot and uncomfortable. If you open the window for circulation, prepare yourself to be chastised by the owner, Diane, for wasting electricity, as...

Le rayon vert was an excellent choice for a B&B for my husband and my trip to Montreal. Diane was SO friendly and gracious and made excellent breakfasts. The inn is in the perfect location for shopping and restaurants but on a street that's totally quiet at night, the perfect combination. Everything was spotlessly clean and our room was beautiful....

I have been staying at the Rayon Vert regularly since 2006. Diane is a wonderful hostess, helpful and knowledgeable about the Plateau area and Montreal generally. I have visited in all seasons, and particularly like summer, when I can enjoy the lovely garden space. I have travelled to the Rayon Vert using a car, the train, and bus. They have...

The B&B we usually stay in when we visit Montreal was unfortunately booked, so we stayed here as it was the same neighbourhood, and the same nightly rate. The owner was pleasant, but fairly strict. Breakfast is at 8, no exceptions. If you're not an early riser, definitely don't stay here! The walls are pretty thin, so if you're a...

I'm writing to give people a heads up that if they want to relax, recharge and be treated respectfully this is not the place for you. While my room, The Victorian, was quite beautiful, the negative energy of the owner and her comments outweighed its beauty and the price charged. At first I shrugged off her behavior, but by my...

Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighbourhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colourful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
