I read the reviews prior to booking Filmores for 2 nights, a Thursday and Friday night. Upon checking out on Saturday I encountered the same problem someone else reported. I provided a $50 key deposit on my credit card and received my refund in Canadian cash. If you think about it, when the bank processes the transaction, the process it...

/!\ READ ENTIRELY I am 21 years old (i love adventure) and traveling alone. The hotel is too expensive for what it offers. Let me explain: In truth even $ 1 would be too expensive. Good points: - RELATIVELY pleasant staff. - For the most rowdy of you: Striptease club with dirty girls around the hotel at night. Bad points:...

If you are a bunch of guys traveling about and don't mind a strip club on the first floor, and the smell of cigarettes if your window is open, then this is the place for you. Honestly, the rooms are fine, nothing fancy, they are clean and it is walking distance to downtown. I was going to give a higher...

Do be advised that there is a gentleman's club on the main floor of the hotel. While the rooms were clean and well kept they were small and the beds were not terribly comfortable. As well the music from the club was a constant background noice all night. The hotel is with in walking distance of many attractions but the...

Sorry you were disappointed with your stay Kat B. We would have liked to hear your issues while you were here. We try to be exactly as advertised, a unique and affordable alternative downtown. As for the music and the beds, we are concerned about both. The music noise is a complaint we don't hear so we will look into...

We were a group of three friends. we choose the hotel primary for it's location. And we were right. We could go on foot everywhere in the centre. The hotel was clean and quiet. The staff was very friendly. The room was ok for what we paid! The bar downstairs never bothered us! Overall highly recommended!

Checked in and the room had no A/C, dirty floor, old TV, had little fan next to Tv. Came down to ask for A/C, there will be another $15 charge for room with A/C. Ghetto neighborhood. Bad and unsafe area. Bad smell over the place inside hotel. Not recommend for any families. This is hotel just for people who comes...

Hi Vu G Ghetto area? Smoking bad smell? Noisy? Come Now, tell the truth. We are right next door and around the corner from 2 fine hotels (Hilton Garden Inn & Grand Hotel). Further, there are brand new high rise condos either recently built or going up all around us. We are, in fact, in the hottest new area of...

First things first: there is no pool, gym or fitness centre here. This is a hotel that is rarely seen these days - while it is great for short stays, some of us are long term guests and consider it home. You can rent for the night or weekly. I found the desk staff and housekeepers to be very professional....

First off, Filmores is as unique and quirkya place you will stay in Toronto but stay you must. Part halfway house, part decent 2 star hotel and part rather fun Gents Club. It's brilliantly located just off the main track so you see some real characters once night sets in. There are lots of reviews about the bed bug issue....

Forget any negative reviews you may have read about this place, probably from those with over expectancy, sure there are a few homeless people in the nearby streets but no more than the rest of Toronto or any other city (there is a Hilton two blocks away at many times the price and same ratio of street people). I have...

Staff is friendly, helpful and accommodating, the price is excellent. but it has no elevators, air conditioning, the room is quite clean, but old. Carpet is smelly. I'm so dissapointed in internet quality. i wouldn't recommend it for anyone staying. i think i will not return here anymore

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
