Stayed over a week and as others have noted, it's decent for the price and location. The hotel is older but clean, with comfy beds. Location is central so you can walk easily to shops and have a few grocery stores nearby if you are on a budget. Breakfast is basic: cereal, breads, juice and coffee. Book online if you...

I stayed here for a week and the bed was so comfortable that I would give the bed a 5. Housekeeping were also good and very thorough and regardless of the time I left my room, I always returned to find it spotless. The only qualm I have is that the tea and coffee wasn't kept topped up. I never...

We chose this budget hotel to stay in after the Adele concert. We are fine with budget properties (smaller rooms, fewer amenities, not a big deal). However when we got back to our room around 11pm there were two police officers sitting in the hall directly in front of our door. It turns out there was some "illegal activity" in...

The hotel is showing its age but it's a decent stay for the price you'll pay. Especially when every hotel in downtown Toronto is over $400. Parking is 2 city blocks away, so if you have trouble walking this might not be the hotel for you.

Crappy. Only smoker room available...so we expected to smell the encrusted smoke in the linen, the mats, a/c, etc...but not THAT strong. Continental couldn't be more minimal. George street behind the hotel is pretty sketchy...don't go there.

Well, I won't be back. I'm always quite proud to tell people that I stay in budget hotels when I travel for business, travel is a huge expense and I like to try and make it cheap where I can. 1) Dirty - I moved rooms 3 times (I actually asked the staff to find me a room in one...

EconoLodge is a good option for a reasonably-priced hotel not far from the center of Toronto. Sure, you can pay more and be nearer the center, but I found this location to be an acceptable base from which to get around. I stayed in Room 207. It had the usual amenities: free Wi-Fi, AC (needed in summer when I was...

I wouldn't agree with others' negative comments-this is the 2nd time I've stayed at the hotel and am very happy with it. the entrance way and lobby is very bright and the reception staff were always on the ball. the breakfast area is kept very clean and tidy, and the orange juice, cereals, milk, cheese etc are replaced quickly when...

This hotel is non-costumer oriented service. There is no chance for early check in neither late check out. The king rooms are in basement and the window is directly connected with street. It is not possible to open it. And the carpet is not that much clean and for alergic people it is terrible. So, I will not stay there...

My sister and brother-in-law stayed in a ground floor room of Ecolodge which is located at the intersection of Gerrard and Jarvis Streets. This is an area of Toronto that is known for street prostitution. And yes, they were awoken at 2:30 am by two men and their ladies of the evening. The next day the manager was unapologetic and...

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
