My partner and I just returned from a little getaway in Toronto, we had decided to treat ourselves with a room at the drake hotel. I had heard about it quite a lot and thought the location would be ideal to explore by foot. We booked a pad in the oldest portion of the hotel since which were the best priced (but still outrageously high imo). The pad was nice, nicely furnished with cute touches. Be advised however that the room are very small and the bathroom glass sliding door don’t offer much privacy into the toilet and shower area. The first two night went allright despite the music being a little loud at night. Some part of the hotel were also booked for private events and could not be accessed. It’s Saturday night that things turned a bit sour for us, we came back to our room after the day and found our room had not been serviced ( bed undone and towels weren’t replace) which was odd. The music was especially loud. We expected things to quiet down a little bit around midnight or at the very least, around 3 AM, but it never did. The loud music and bass continued until 7 in the morning, keeping us awake most of the night. No notice or anything was given, and when we disclosed our disappointment in the situation at the front desk upon check out, we didn’t get any more explanation or anything from the staff. They also informed us the lack or room service was due to some of the cleaning staff not showing up. They only offered us a 25$ off a breakfast at their restaurant which I find is a pretty ridiculous offer considering a night at their hotel runs at around 400$ a night! Quite disappointed with our stay, I think the oldest wing is not much of a hotel, rather a big club/restaurant and event spot with a few beds sitting on top of it. Definitely go for the modern wing or book somewhere else if you intend on sleeping……
My husband booked this hotel as a treat..the legendary Drake hotel for a special weekend in Chicago. Rooms and shower were horribly outdated…and asking for clean towels and a working coffee machine was beyond the house keeping capability.
Enjoyed The Drake Rooftop recently. Friendly, though very busy, waiter. Good food, wonderful ambience. Until the resident mouse appeared and did a few twirls in the middle of the room. And reappeared periodically. Unconcerned stafff said he basically lives there, from construction nearby. Since the venue is partially opened to the outdoors, it's understandable, I guess, but there's just something about a mouse milling about a restaurant that kills the appetite..and we all stopped eating as soon as his antics began. Thought this could be our new handout until Drake, the mouse, made himself known.
I just have to give all of my appreciation to this hotel. I received a phone call from Tarrin today regarding my stay. I had booked this hotel through Expedia. We had an out of province family emergency and in all the chaos and stress I completely forgot to cancel my reservation. I sent an email to the hotel explaining my situation and received a phone call today saying the would reverse all charges. I cannot explain how grateful and appreciative I am. Top notch compassion and customer service. I will not hesitate to book here again. Once again thank you.
We traveled in from Seattle and Denver for my bachelorette party in Toronto. I was determined to stay at The Drake because I had great memories from staying here nearly 10 years ago. I was pleased to learn that they had expanded and renovated since my last visit and we stayed in the new wing of the hotel. The lobby was beautifully decorated with a sexy lounge space, area where you can jam on your laptop, and chic bar. The front desk staff were all incredibly welcoming, helpful and kind. We loved the funky room decor, comfortable beds, luxury bath products, and Drake branded sweatshirt robes. HUGE fans of the long sweatshirt robes. The hotel is located within walking distance of several hip restaurants and bars, including the ones on property. We enjoyed a live show at Underground and lovely breakfast at the cafe. We also had drinks at Sky Yard and the restaurant, as well as danced the night away to their awesome house DJ. An overall fantastic hotel stay and epic weekend!!!…
I stayed at the Drake for a bachelorette (visiting from Seattle), and I must say this is one of the trendiest/sexiest hotels I've stayed at. The decor from the moment you walk in is so fresh and funky, giving Instagram model vibes. Outside of just being "cool", the staff was so extremely friendly and helpful, making sure we were well taken care of and giving great recommendations. While other reviews do mention a "party hotel", the party hosted was very fun but also when it was time to go to bed we couldn't hear anything from our room. This being my first visit to Toronto, the location was also superb, close to all sorts of shopping/dining/nightlife. I can't wait to come back!
You must reserve parking in advance, as they do not have adequate space. We parked a block away and it was about the same price. Everyone was so accommodating adn friendly, the bar and restaurant are patronized by regulars and locals, in addition to hotel guests and the food was really good. The area is still in development, but there are lots of great spots to dine within walking distance. Most things you'd want to visit as a tourist are not walkable and driving there is a nightmare. Parking gets pricey too, nowhere is it free,
Loved few things in the hotel: The design, it’s all nicely decorated, great style. The room has a very comfortable bed and great bathroom. Breakfast is delicious, waitress was lovely Location is the coolest in Toronto, all the favorite restaurants, cafes, delis, stores etc are around. Could have been a perfect experience if the sound level in the rooms was not that insane! There is loud music playing in the hotel patio restaurant until 2:30pm. Impossible to sleep before, it feels like the party is happening in your room. If you are a party person this hotel is for you. But if you want a good night of sleep, run away it’s impossible to close your eyes until the music stop. Ear plugs will not help. So when we left the hotel after 2 nights we were over exhausted with the lack of sleep. And the rooms are not cheap at all. This is a club with some rooms, not a hotel. So if you are looking for a quiet room this is not the place. Just go for the brunch but not to sleep.…
The staff at The Drake Hotel were absolutely wonderful to us, from the receptionist at the front desk, to the wait staff and managers. They could not have been more accomodating to me and my mother. The rooms were designed very well, and the bed was great. The food was excellent as well. Overall, The Drake Hotel was a very memorable experience!
Just finished my stay at the Drake and it is easily in the top hotels I’ve stayed at. The service, decor, and amenities are all 5 star. Upon arrival Natalie at the front desk gave us a warm welcome and was so pleasant and helpful in getting us situated at the hotel. Our room was beautifully decorated (the entire hotel is tasteful and gorgeous) and extremely clean. The bathroom had all of the amenities needed and the provided products are well curated. If you’re a remote worker like I am this is easily the best and most accommodating hotel I’ve experienced. Hot delicious coffee was waiting in the lobby each morning and we ordered breakfast that was directly delivered to the lounge where we were working. The food was also spectacular. For dinner, the restaurant on property is also a must. Delicious food, great cocktails, and good tunes. The hotel is also perfectly situated on the west side and the neighborhood is extremely walkable. Great shopping and restaurants are all right outside the door. Will always be staying at the Drake when visiting Toronto.…
