We decided to splurge and stay at a “5 star” hotel this trip to toronto. Started off lovey with welcoming staff and a beautiful room. In the morning we woke up to construction noise carrying on above us. Tried to wait it out 45 mins before finally calling downstairs. I was told that it was going to continue until 3pm and that if I needed a quiet place to work they would find me somewhere on a lower floor….what?! I wanted to sleep! Check out is noon and we intended on using the morning to make the most of our short trip. This is unacceptable for the amount of money we paid to stay here!!! Side note….they told me it was “emergency construction” however when we checked in at 3pm the day before I heard the same noise for about 5 mins (assumed it was over and never thought about it again…until the am when it started) We shouldn’t have been put in that room (my kids had a room on a lower floor and weren’t bothered) and we absolutely should have been offered a different room…or at the very least informed it was going to happen! Horrible way to wake up… We had to pack up and leave early as we couldn’t even have a conversation above the noise (it was THAT loud) (I have several video clips showing just how loud it was….I intended to post but looks like it’s not an option on here..)

Hotel's Favourite
I have been staying at the Shangri La Toronto almost once a month during the pandemic. It is my trip away from home known as a staycation. I got to say, although I have stayed at all the 5 star hotels in Toronto, the staff at the SL really make you feel special. Albeit, I’m now considered a regular, their service never waivers, but they always try to maintain consistency with exceptional service. From the valet with Marlon who is always helpful with charging our hybrid car or forgetting something in it, to the front desk staff from Viktoria, Dean and Willow in making checkin seamless, to the room service staff which are always so friendly and accommodating. Now, I understand during the pandemic staffing at hotels have been challenging so getting assistance might not be as readily, but they do make the best efforts to make your experience memorable. Lastly, the CNY/Lunar high tea was amazing. The dim sum portion was top notch. Kudos to the chef and staff. I’m still craving them and it’s been 5 days! If you are looking for a stay in the city, come to the Shangri La. You won’t regret it!

Very nice hotel. Great staff, great lobby bar, only issue was finding hotel entrance at first since it’s in the back. We had the summer savior promo so we got our afternoon tea included which was great and dining credit for breakfast, and free valet parking. I’d definitely stay at the Shangri-La again!

I am so delighted with the Shangri La Toronto. My room has everything I need and all the little extras to make me feel at home. I called for room service and the attendant recommended the Thai coconut soup. It is a 10. Honestly it would serve two but I enjoyed it thoroughly! Jason deliverd the meal and he is so friendly and welcoming. He shared with me that he has been at the hotel for 9 1/2 years. They are so lucky to have him. He said the organisation and the management treat him very well, and it shows in his pride and knowledge of the brand. Everything was laid out carefully and precisely, he clearly knows his craft. I feel spoiled being here. What a treat! Thank you Shangri La! Thank you!

Loved our entire stay here. 1BR suite was roomy and well-equipped. Housekeeping staff kept all well stocked (tea/coffee/boxes of water, etc.) and responded to our request notes daily. They even have a “pillow menu” to make sure you have the best night sleep. Bartender at lounge was friendly and made great drinks. Reception and concierge staff were top-notch. Fitness center was big with machines to do a full circuit if you chose to do so. Plenty of water & towels, and even warmed/chilled towels if you like that. Pool was decent sized, with a large hot tub and a sauna also available. Just a great stay overall. It’s not a budget property, but they provide a premium experience.

I stayed at this hotel for 5 days. The reception is professional and fast. The room is very spacious. The clean up service in my room is superb and they tidy up your items in bathroom in a professional way. Must try the breakfast, tasty and ample. Good coffee. Lots of people at the lobby lounge at night. Location is very convenient. One minute walk to subway station. Eaton Centre, City Hall and Young Street are nearby. The hotel is pricy but if you want excellent services and spacious room this is an ideal choice in downtown Toronto. Bette register as its member for free for benefits.

Where to start? Dean. Dean Voon. Dean is the Chief Concierge, and he is an absolute gem that makes this hotel shine. I had many questions about the hotel/services/facilities before deciding on Shangri-La TO, and he addressed all my questions/concerns in a variety of phone and email exchanges. He is very professional, all the while being warm, enthusiastic and thoughtful. He is just a really great person :) I should also mention Shaminder (Reservations), who did all my booking over the phone. I had very detailed/specific questions about rates/room specifics/payment/promotions etc. She fielded all my questions graciously, and was very patient (which I really appreciate) through the whole reservation process, even when I had to make some date changes a few weeks later. When the day finally came for my husband and I to actually step foot in the hotel, we were impressed by the huge metal "Rising" sculpture outside the doors. It's always something that's caught our eye when we've been in T.O. And the covered water feature with the koi that snakes from outside to inside the building is also really unique. The Lounge dominates the main entrance and it is both sumptuous and gorgeous - lots of plush seating for cocktails/tea service etc, a fireplace feature, stage with a Fazioli piano (where they have both afternoon and evening live performances) , and glass-encased mannequins decked out in designer wears. The reception desks are tucked away and allow you to sit for a more civilized, calm experience, which I appreciate. We did arrive rather early in the morning, so understandably our room was not yet ready. Robert at Reception was very friendly and informative - he reviewed the facilities available to us (gym, pool etc) if we so chose while awaiting our room. We opted to check our luggage and do some city exploring. Luckily, we were provided with umbrellas, as it was raining. Thanks! We received a text in the early afternoon indicating our room (Premier Rm with View) was ready. Andy walked us through the check-in process and informed us our luggage was awaiting us in our room, and that if there was no amenity in the room yet, it would be up shortly, in recognition of our 20 year anniversary. How lovely! The hotel generously provided us iced champagne , glasses, mousse dessert to share and a large arrangement of fresh fruit with a handwritten note acknowledging our Anniversary. Amazing! The room was stunning - the floor-to-ceiling corner windows allowed for an awesome view all the way down University Av to Queen's Park. And the piece de resistance was the bathroom - huge double vanity, glass-encased shower, and huge deep soaker tub, which served for very romantic afternoon and evening bathes together. Robes/slippers were included. Although the quality of these were maybe not as nice as some other hotels, they were appreciated. The bed and bedding was above par. It felt like what I imagine sleeping wrapped up in a marshmallow feels like. Sublime! I also appreciated the beautiful glassware provided - three different types allowed us to enjoy a variety of drinks - wine, beer etc. Another great feature was the electronic control panel for sheers, blackout curtains, bed/foyer/bathroom lights. What a luxury! Another convenient feature was the i-pad that helped you schedule and control many features of the room, such as arranging housekeeping/turn down service for a specific time, ordering room service, viewing your bill, etc. I also really liked the buttons that would indicate you wanted either privacy or your room to be serviced, which is way more sleek than the traditional door knob hangers. Where this hotel particularly shone was the housekeeping, which was very attentive to detail - I left a small note indicating decaf only, and they generously refilled the drawer each day with many pods, even a whole box on the side! They also provided extra of any of the teas that were used the day prior, because they clearly noticed it was the flavour you preferred. And the toiletries were also well tended to, ensuring nothing ran out. And the turn down service was also great, including drawing the curtains, setting out your slippers and water bottle at either side of the bed, as well as leaving you different bookmarks featuring quotes from the book, Lost Horizon, which is found in each of the rooms. All nice touches! The pool was by far the best indoor pool I have been to in Toronto. It's more than long enough to do laps, and it has cool lighting making it look so different during the day versus night, and the room is flooded with natural lighting due to both corner and ceiling windows. The best part of the pool are the private cabanas featuring individual TVs. The infrared sauna was also lovely, and the change room was well stocked with towels, private showers, lockers, and a variety of toiletries. There's even a steam room, but I didn't use it. I also didn't use the gym but they had a variety of equipment. The added benefit of bottled water, apples, granola bars, hot/cold compresses were great. There's also a smaller, separate lounging patio area to sunbathe. And there was ample, very friendly staff to assist you with anything you might need. Shout out to Debie! We also utilized the garden patio on the 3rd floor - although it's mainly used by the neighbouring Momofuku restaurant in the evenings, it was empty during the day, so we enjoyed the ample seating area for reading and lounging in peace and quiet. There's also a really cool beehive feature that allows you to view the bees hard at work. Unfortunately, the house-car was not available, as were the bikes for borrowing. Had these been available, they would have certainly added to both the value and enjoyment of the stay; however, that being said, we easily got around, since Osgoode subway station, as well as other bus stops were very close by, as were a variety of great coffee shops and restaurants. The level of hospitality was just perfect for us - our needs were anticipated, we were well-tended to when we needed to be, without feeling smothered. We were truly left with a memorable 20 year Anniversary because of the Shangri-La Toronto. Overall, my husband and I were beyond impressed with our stay from start to finish, and we can't wait to have any excuse to return (like, returning to see The Weeknd, which was unfortunately postponed due to the nation-wide Rogers outage!) Despite the disappointment of not seeing The Weeknd, at least we won't have to worry about where to stay! No question. It's Shangri-La Toronto!

My stay at Shangri-La Hotel Toronto was everything I needed it to be: an escape from the stresses of reality and a sanctuary where I could relax and feel completely at home. From the complimentary suite upgrade to the welcome amenity and handwritten card from the lovely GM Kari, all the little details were there. The live music in the lounge adds a fun flavour to the lobby, the cabanas in the pool area provide the perfect place for an afternoon snooze, and the terrace lets you soak up the sun while the city bustles below. The hotel’s Chef Concierge Dean is there to elevate your stay in every way imaginable. While the entertainment systems in the rooms could be updated with fresh LEDs with full HD, who goes on vacation to watch TV anyway?! Thank you to the team for your tremendous hospitality. I will be back again and again.
