We had a quite comfortable room with a mini kitchenette. The only drawback would be that there was only one light in the bedroom (on one side of the bed, due to the sawfit). A second light could probably be clamped to the headboard or mounted above the bed on the other side. Ask for a room with a lakeside... More

This is a solid choice for a hotel. The staff were really helpful; the shuttle driver asked if we wanted a lift, people helped us quickly. The room was good though the bathroom was very close to the bed, so privacy was a bit of an issue. I was pleasantly surprised by the gym. The rooftop terrace is nice. Breakfast... More

A family of two adults and 2 kids, we stayed 2 nights at the Grand Hotel & Suites Toronto. The room was impeccable and quite big. A smal hall with a sofa bed and a TV served as the kids room. There was a small but very handy kitchenette (fridge, microwave, coffee machine). the bathroom was clean, classy and roomy.... More

I found this hotel at the last minute. I decided late to find a hotel room in Toronto for the weekend of the annual Caribbean Festival. Most hotels were solidly booked; this one appeared to be available. I first did something many others suggest. I called the hotel and attempted to make a reservation. The hotel desk person told me... Stayed at The Grand for a mixture of work and leisure. Consistent service and great facilities. The breakfast bar offers healthy food, my only comment is the coffee is terrible! I found the hotel to be in great proximity to attractions or otherwise public transport

Classic on the outside, modern and chic on the inside. So many things to praise about this hotel - the ultra cool rooftop jacuzzi's with tremendous views of Lake Ontario and the city. The first class large gym with excellent steam and sauna rooms in each changing room.Beautiful indoor pool on the ground - stunning. Breakfast, indeed all meals taken... More

I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights with my family and overall was very impressed with this hotel. The location was close to town (though the area not the the greatest) and the junior suite really smart, tidy and clean. The breakfast was also good with plenty of choice. My only complaint was the lack of care when it... More

Finished our trip to US and Canada at the Grand. Like the previous reporter, we too were celebrating a special anniversary here and had already booked a 2 bed junior suite. This was upgraded to a bigger suite at the back of the hotel on the second floor which was very luxurious and appreciated. We too received the chocolate strawberries... More

I booked with this hotel online and it was a great experience. I told them online it was our anniversary, and when we got to the hotel they surprised us with a free upgrade to the jacuzzi suite and sent up 12 chocolate dipped strawberries. That was such a wonderful surprise! The staff was great, the hotel was clean and... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
