Lows include: Small outdated (by far) rooms. Check out the traveler photos, they're accurate. Noisy Poor heating / a/c Poor elevator service Welcome was less than I'm used to as a spire elite member (the receptionist was doubtful that I was spire "elite") No fridge Pros: Location They are renovating (I suppose this was a con during the stay, but... We came for 2 nights to see a concert. The hotel is being renovated, it definitely needs it. Our room didn't even have a fridge. Lots of noise, elevators aren't working. Beds are still comfy and it's close to downtown and Breakfast is edible. In my opinion they should just shut down while renovating, it's a headache!

This was the only hotel that had 5 rooms available on the night needed. The hotel had decent parking available which is hard to always provide downtown. Rooms and hallways were a little dated but overall very clean. Breakfast was excellent. We had a room on the 8th floor so noise from the street was minimal. It is pricey for... More

This place is over priced for the condition of the hotel. I paid $180 for a queen room on the 16th floor. The hallway carpet could be pulled up easily, I tripped on it 😕. The carpet was stained. The elevators were slow and dingy. The bathrooms were out dated. Breakfast was nothing special. The night before I paid $130... More

In the heart of downtown Toronto, close to Chinatown and other areas of interest, this hotel offers great location, but little else. The hotel is currently undergoing a much needed renovation and I hope it includes updating the faded and worn carpets, peeling wall paper, and dated bathrooms. No renovation will fix the lack of parking. Max height in the... More

We stayed here for four nights. Everything was alright. They were in the midst of referbishing the upper floors and our floor had not been done yet. Our room was a bit tired and so was the lobby. When everything is spruced up it will be very nice. Very convenient to Eatons centre. Would stay again. The continental breakfast was... More

Great location for us, but very disappointed in hotel first the price we paid. Too late to look for another hotel. We would have been charged anyway so we stayed. I stayed here recently as I was in town for a sporting event. Here are some pros-and-cons from my stay... Pros: - Location - You can't get much better than this. The hotel is located on the outskirts of downtown, so it's not an overly busy area, but it's a few blocks from downtown, making it easily accessible. You're also... More

An old, rundown place presently undergoing renovations so even less attention to details. My partner is a platinum member so location sounded good. Big mistake. Management, very understanding, changed our room...not much better but at least no mould on window. Carpets are filthy, furniture ugly, old and dusty looking. The queen bed...more like a double...is butted up beside the wardrobe.... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
