I have stayed in many hotels across the world, including the gold floors of a few Fairmont Hotels, and in at least six different Fairmont Hotels. Olivia Baratta provided me with quite exceptional service on the gold floor over the course of two days last week, during my stay at the Royal York, for which I would like to thank...

This is a very large hotel, located right across from Union Station in downtown Toronto that was, when it was built in 1929, the largest hotel in the British Empire. The feel of the hotel is old luxe. Our room was ample, well-appointed and welcoming. We didn't pay the premium for a room with a view but were happy with...

I last stayed at the Royal York in the mid 80's. I was impressed then and glad to see things haven't changed! The staff is great, friendly and helpful! The location is convenient for train travelers as the main station is just across the street..

I was here for a conference in October and it was really a nice hotel. Its big and the elevators are slow, but they are old so you have to take that into consideration. The guest rooms were very nice and the beds and bedding were simply top notch. I usually wake up several time during the night and this...

We stayed two nights for a wedding that was held at the hotel. All in all the hotel is conveniently located (approx $55 cab ride from airport) very classy, and has a well trained staff. The rooms are small but with nice amenities. Overall I belief they do a good job with customer service. Cindy was especially helpful in securing...

Staying in Downtown West

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown West
Downtown West is home to Toronto's gorgeous Inner Harbor, and is a must-visit for lovers of art and the outdoors. The area's rich cultural heritage is celebrated by a number of monuments and museums, giving the neighborhood a mature feel. As a premier destination for modern art, people here stroll through the cool contemporary pieces at the Power Plant, enjoy the outdoor installations along Queen's Quay and Canoe Landing, and picnic among the zany designs of the Toronto Music Garden. The waterfront itself is often suffused with bikers and joggers, and the harbor is always packed with classic ships with masts raised. The vintage boats and ferries to the Toronto Islands make for a charming contrast against Downtown West's backdrop of skyscrapers, condos, and food trucks serving up hot, fresh fare to locals on the go. The area has a peaceful energy, and is popular with tourists and Torontonians alike.
