I was in town for a business trip. Decided to stay on a few extra days and was looking for an affordable in-town option. I found Old Country to be a nice experience. I stayed in Room 1, which appears to be recently updated. The room had a stove top, fridge, kitchen sink. The bathroom was spotless. Beds were comfy....

We knew from the get go that this was not the best place to stay in Thunder Bay. If you can afford to stay at another motel I would suggest you do so. The rooms are out dated, floor dirty overall first look is not good and if we were not so tired we would have moved on to another...

As soon as we opened the door, we knew we couldn't stay there. There was the stench of urine in the room and floor was very dirty. The owner/manager wasn't available, so we simply left to find somewhere else to stay and ate the cost of the room. We called him to let him know, and he was very nice...

We travel a LOT. We have stayed in many Delta Hotels, Hiltons, etc....all at a whopping price for nice decor. Sam is the friendliest owner you could ever meet, if you need something, just ask he will get it for you. The rooms are OLD, he is busily trying to update each one. New bathrooms, little kitchenettes, it is a...

My family spent three nights here during a stay in Thunder Bay. The motel was simple and older but had some nice updates--comfortable beds, updated bathroom. The family suite we stayed in had two bedroom areas separated by a wall and a simple kitchenette with a funny stovetop/refrigerator combination, but all functioned well. Gas grill in the common area if...

Sam was very friendly and always in for a chat. The room has character, bathroom was completly new, the kitchenette is fully equipped and the most important thing: It was very clean! Laundary, WiFi and TV worked without problem. Djuring our stay I had a bit of a cold and he brought me a lemon and vitamin pills every day....

Other than the owner being a very accommodating person and the rooms were somewhat clean, but the walls were paper thin and the dust was a little too much. A bit more effort would make this place great but the owner seems more intent on keeping you there with idle chit chat and diversions about the city and the new...

My husband is traveling across country and I am booking hotels for him. I booked this hotel last night. They accommodated us no problem; it was cheap, clean and quiet, though it smelled quite stale. The staff were very courteous. This is the perfect spot for a budget traveler.

We are a large family, and we had already been turned away from one motel because of no vacancy. It was late, and we were desperate to hurry and find a room. We had never heard of this motel before, but we saw it as we were passing through, so we pulled in. The outside is kind of creepy, but...

I had the misfortune of spending two nights in this dump. I would never EVER recommend this place to anyone, and here is why: - there were dead flies in the screen door - the entire room stank of cigarrette smoke (even though it was supposed to be a non-smoking room) -you had to jiggle the front door just-right before...

“The rooms at the front are a little noisier with road traffic, so ask for the ones at back. He has Different beds in the rooms, some are harder, others softer, so let him know your preference and he will give you the right room. In fact he will let you check the beds out first !”
