We stayed at Ranger's Retreat for three nights July 3-5 2014. As stated in all the previous reveiws, you cannot go wrong staying here. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left everything was perfection! The bed, the food, the pool, etc. was a 5 star experience. Brian & Jan & Sarah are warm and most welcoming hosts.

Brian is a five star chef. Jan is on a European hospitality accreditation board. This place is lovely and comfortable in every way from the food to the mattress to the salt water pool to the encyclopedic knowledge of the area. Even the dog was warm and entertaining. The breakfast was exquisitely crafted from a combination of locally sourced fresh ingredients and global specialties. I couldn't eat lunch until 3 pm. The area is charming, lots of vineyards and of course Niagara Falls . Stay here and drive to the falls. We will be back, perhaps to enjoy the shaw theatre or harvest fest.

We stayed at Ranger's Retreat May 26th to 31st, 2014 and absolutely loved it! This was our first stay at Ranger's and it will not be our last. We have stayed at many B&Bs in different parts of Canada and have to say that Ranger's (including Brian and his dog Sarah) is fantastic. Where do I start? Brian is a fantastic host and his "assistant" Sarah the Scottie is a gentle charmer! Our room was terrific. The bed and bedding were divine. Everything about Ranger's is absolutely top-shelf! There is a wonderful pool surrounded by a multitude of plants, gorgeous shrubs and colourful flowers in lush groomed gardens that pleased my wife immensely. She and Brian shared many minutes exploring the gardens and she received lots of tips and ideas. The location was perfect for us.…

This is a review for travel during the week of May 26-30, 2014. This was our second stay at this bed and breakfast with our previous stay being almost three years prior. Our first trip was amazing and our return was equally so. This is singularly the best bed and breakfast we have stayed at. The breakfast is superior to anything you will get at a restaurant, the rooms are as luxurious as the highest end hotels, and the hospitality is unmatched. Brian and Jan (who was not here during this trip but was on our first trip) are amazing hosts that welcome you into their home with warmness and kindness that makes you feel as though you are at home. Breakfast is the highlight, as many reviews have noted, and ours was spectacular. Fresh bread, local cheeses, amazing coffee, fruits,…

I took my elderly dad for a "can't wait for spring" trip to Niagara on the Lake, and our stay at Rangers Retreat made it that much more special. Brian and Jan welcomed us into their comfortable and elegant home. Our rooms were lovely, and spotlessly clean, with modern European style bathrooms. The guest sitting room was filled with comfortable , squashy chairs perfect for reading or watching the birds at the feeder. Brian gave us a great recommendation on where to eat dinner (the Garrison House - a two minute drive/ 10 minute walk from Rangers Retreat). Breakfast was exactly what you would expect from a chef of Brian's calibre. Homemade jams and preserves, a wild mushroom omelette accompanied by fresh fruit salad (and homemade candied pecans!), and a cheeseboard with more…

What a great house and great host. I loved the super modern bathroom and spent a some time in the afternoon relaxing in the beautiful garden--if it was summer I would have been in the pool. Brian is a great host and breakfast was completely off the hook. An extremely impressive array of options at breakfast excellently prepared--Brian's prior culinary experience made breakfast a highlight. Glad I discovered a great get away only a few hours from home.

From the moment of our arrival, Brian was an exceptional host, and could not have done more for us. He and his partner spent over three years renovating the house specifically for a B&B, after many years experience in the restaurant and hospitality business in Holland. The breakfasts include over two dozen varieties of aged cheeses and an enormous assortment of breads, and that is just the first course! You can easily pay twice Brian's prices elsewhere in Niagara-on-the-Lake and not get such service or care. In other words, Ranger's Retreat is an exceptional value and most highly recommended without qualification. Ian

Fantastic visit. The house is gorgeous, gourmet breakfast fabulous & hospitality made made me feel at home. Rangers Retreat is no bed & breakfast! It's better than the Ritz! 5 star all the way. I will be returning next week.

Hey, I'm not particularly a fan of B&B's but my wife had stayed here before and loved it so I went along with her. After this stay I can understand why she so enjoyed it and I'm anxious to return. Brian and Jan are great hosts with the right personalities to take on a venture like this, unobtrusive but there if you want them. Our room was spacious and quiet with a large bath, a sitting area, it's own A/C and very, very comfortable. The home is in an upscale residential area about a ten minute drive from "downtown" and the center of tourist action. Beautiful gardens and sitting areas outside and around the pool. It can't be repeated enough: The breakfast is incredible. Brian is/was a professional chef and foods are cooking all the time - chutneys, jams, sauces, breads. The…

We arrived in a perfect styled home of Brian Carberry and Jan Van Haren. Both coming from the hotellery, knowing what customers love. They created a warm atmosphere in the house, wonderful beds and rooms and invited us to use everything we need in the kitchen. I loved to swim in the swimming pool, which was so lovely swim temperatur wise and quality, so I didn't like to get out anymore. The breakfast of Brian, former restaurant owner, was breathtaking. Be prepared not to eat too much in the evening. Especially advisable for lovers of interior design, food and breakfast lovers. You need a car, it is 10 min from the centre with car, but the gardens, the pool and the house are like a real paradise, worse while every cent! Thanks Brian and Jan for the stay, a pitty we need to leave…
