Liz and David are amazing hosts. They are kind, generous, and really fantastic chefs!! Not only are the breakfasts the best we have had at any B&B (see photos), there were also really nice Port wine and snacks prepared at night time! The room was simply incredible. We had the “Pebble” master bedroom with a luxurious bathroom (salt baths!) The bed was really comfortable (queen size) and the neighborhood was so quiet. Every morning we woke up feeling really refreshed, to the sounds of the chirping of birds outside. All in all, if you are visiting Halifax, you don’t want to miss this opportunity to stay at this amazing B&B!

We stayed two nights- great room bed and linen, ac and beautiful ensuite bathroom with both tub and shower. Friendly proprietor-Liz- made excellent breakfast and great coffee. Worth the price. Will go back. Parking in front street in upscale neighborhood was no problem. Felt very safe and comfortable. Will go back.

We have stayed in many places over the years as our daughter attended Dalhousie. Beyond a doubt the best has been The Pebble. It is well placed in a quiet neighbourhood but accessible to the city itself. The rooms are generous in size and beautifully finished. Liz is a wonderful, knowledgable host with some stories to tell. Our daughter has now graduated from Dalhousie but we may need to return to Halifax just to go back to The Pebble.

This is how true hospitality should be. Both Liz and her gorgeous property exude a comforting and welcoming charm that creates a feeling of being cosseted. The property is beautifully appointed without any air of pretentiousness. We stayed in The Pebble suite which was absolutely gorgeous, wonderful decor and spotlessly clean.

This is an exceptionally wonderful place to stay in a very pleasant and quiet residential area. Liz is marvelous, warm and kind, effervescing with energy and masses of Irish charm. She made us extremely welcome with delicious cinnamon buns, coffee and good advice on arrival. Our room was beautiful - spacious, attractive and very comfortable filled with personal touches to make us feel completely at home. Breakfasts were amazingly delicious and creative. We would love to return to this haven one day and cannot recommend it highly enough. Five stars is not enough!

My husband and I stayed at the Pebble. I loved the decor of the home. It is stunning. The breakfast was gourmet and the coffee was Liz’s own special blend—amazing. Sweet little park on the water just a few feet down the street.

When my sister and I were looking for a special place to stay in Halifax, a city we lived in when we were young, we came upon The Pebble and were astonished to recognize the beautiful home as that of our aunt and uncle, who built it and raised their 7 children there, and where we spent many memorable times. A quick call to the new owner, Liz O’Carroll, who was just as delighted as we were to connect, and we were booked in the top floor suite for 4 nights. To say that Liz has honoured the history and charm of this lovely house is an understatement. She has created an oasis of elegance and serenity for her guests and an experience that is warm, welcoming, and unique. It reminded us of a European boutique hotel, with a more personal touch, such as to-die-for breakfasts often…

In her book "Are You Somebody?" the beloved Irish writer Nuala O’Faolain wrote, “My life burned inside me.” Liz O'Carroll has a burning passion to ensure every guest at The Pebble feels like somebody who's just found a basket of four-leaf clovers. 'Tis her lifelong calling as you’ll discover through her gifted storytelling. Élan and flair with an eye for comfort and ease are evident in every object Liz has selected throughout this stately home, only a stone’s throw from the ocean’s NW Arm. Frette bed linens, Molton Brown products, fresh ocean breezes, comfy armchairs overlooking the water… Her legendary breakfasts are homemade and organic, like her bircher muesli, the best we’ve ever eaten—steel cut oats baked in her Aga oven then mixed with an abundance of fresh fruit.…
